***Another intriguing possibility: Kovalev vs.super middleweight Andre Ward. Duva said Wards representatives, now Roc Nation, contacted her recently to determine whether Kovalev would be interested in fighting Ward. I had one conversation with them, Duva said. I asked whether they were interested in doing it September. They said, Hes going to have a couple more fights first. Hell be ready around this time next year. I said, OK. Tell me when you want to fight. Thats where we left it.***
Ward needs to fight period. Anybody. I honestly think if he goes right in there with a top guy after this long layoff, he may end up getting sparked. Injuries + Extensive Time Off = ? (Usually equates to a loss in my experience)
Another a "Super Middleweight is ducking a Light Heavyweight" thread and by a certified idiot at that.
Exactly. Jones beat Ruiz, a complete joke of a fighter who was also schooled by Toney, another guy who climbed the weight classes and beat the paper champ. Throughout history there are a plethora of fighters at 160-175 who could move up in weight and beat someone as poor as Ruiz, it really isn't that great of a win, Ruiz SUCKED and most of his success was due to Don Kings influence, and not his in ring ability.
