***Another intriguing possibility: Kovalev vs.super middleweight Andre Ward. Duva said Ward’s representatives, now Roc Nation, contacted her recently to determine whether Kovalev would be interested in fighting Ward.

“I had one conversation with them,” Duva said. “I asked whether they were interested in doing it September. They said, ‘He’s going to have a couple more fights first. He’ll be ready around this time next year.’ I said, ‘OK. Tell me when you want to fight.’ That’s where we left it.”***

Ward needs to fight period. Anybody.

I honestly think if he goes right in there with a top guy after this long layoff, he may end up getting sparked. Injuries + Extensive Time Off = ? (Usually equates to a loss in my experience)

Exactly. Jones beat Ruiz, a complete joke of a fighter who was also schooled by Toney, another guy who climbed the weight classes and beat the paper champ. Throughout history there are a plethora of fighters at 160-175 who could move up in weight and beat someone as poor as Ruiz, it really isn't that great of a win, Ruiz SUCKED and most of his success was due to Don Kings influence, and not his in ring ability.
