Ward needs to take a page out of Sergio's book and realise he's not a big draw

So now we need to compare Ward's numbers to that of ESB posters who don't fight for a living. Gotcha. :rofl

His style isn't the problem. Mayweather doesn't have a particularly fan friendly style.

His that he's boring as a damn squid and is not willing to meet other fighters demands to have big fights that would make him a draw.

I think Ward would school Stevenson. Kovalev and GGG have a punchers chance.

He strikes me as someone who is rather stupid.

He compared this thread to the early days of the Nazi party

Actually, as a fan of the sport of boxing, I really enjoy watching Ward's fights.

Still, as a fan, I'd like to see him follow up that strong jab he's been developing with combinations. His jab is developing to completely disorient his opponent but Ward has so much momentum behind it that he just falls in to a clinch with no hurtful follow up. I'd like to see him follow up that jab with a hook or uppercut, and I'd like to see him throwing more lead and straight rights to embellish his game.

On the personal level, I'm not too interested in Ward. His blind religious crap is indicative of a not too deep thinking mindset.
I mean, he's a Baptist and has no idea who John The Baptist was.
Anyway, his personal life is not what makes me watch his fights. It's his superior ring technique.
Others may find excuses to not like him due to his style, but since he dismantled Froch, I've watch him steadily improve his already p4p skill level.
At this point, if he would develop a effective fast and accurate straight right like Mayweather, I would rate Andre Ward #1 p4p.

In fairness, I find his fights more intresting than Mayweather's, Hopkins' and Klitschko's.

Ward is avoided because he brings to things to the table:
    1) not much money
    2) A sure schooling.

If Ward wants the big fights and keep being up there for the long run, he needs to let the other guy getting more money. He is not entitled to anything and doesn't diserve bigger purse if the other guy is the one bringing the money to the table, à la Chavez or GGG, or Stevenson, or Kovalev.

That is, indeed, a great argument.

my point is...ppl pay to see him fight. who says he has to pack the house to make money?

ppl pointing out that this guy is a draw...or this guy isn't a draw blah, blah, blah...it doesn't mean **** because the guy can fight. if they're televising his fights, ppl watch. will they watch as much as floyd? probably not...that's because floyd has a **** load of ppl that are praying for him to lose. ward is a good guy and a masterful boxer. i love watching him fight. the reason i got showtime and hbo is to watch fights. there are a lot of ppl just like me out there. i sometimes go to actual fights. as a matter of fact i have seen ward fight several times live. everytime i went...the house was packed. maybe not sold out...but it was packed. i've been to other fights with more popular boxers where the place was half empty. attendence or lack thereof still doesn't take away from the fact that ppl thoroughly enjoyed the fights and andre ward made money.

whether a fighter can or cannot draw flies to **** means absolutely nothing to me unless i'm getting paid off of his ticket sales. otherwise....wgara.

It doesn't mean **** to you, but it means a hell of a lot at the negotiation table. Point being that 'not being a draw' will never get you the big fights... if you do fight a big draw, you must be prepared to accept the B-side share of the purse. In time, we'll see if Ward is prepared to do that for Froch in the UK, Stevenson in Canada or even Golovkin in NYC if he finally gets his lineal championship. Ward would rightfully be the B-side in each of these fights.

    against ward....

froch is the b side. he wasn't the a side the first time they fought and he got schooled. how does winning controversially against groves make him the a side now??? he's not going to win the rematch against groves so his name won't be in the mix long.

stevenson is on the b side as well. knocking out dawson after ward did it doesn't make him the man. i don't care how many tickets he sells in canada. ward has way more accomplishment.

golovkin don't want it. he's just using wards name to promote himself. he has fought anyone remotely close to the skill level he's going to face against ward. again...he's b side.

don't get it twisted. draw or not....all roads go through ward at 168. when he moves up to 175....he'll be the man to beat there as well.

These guys are all A-side to Ward because they bring more revenues to the negotiation table. That's my premise, and we'll agree to disagree.

Cotto vs Martinez is a fine, fine example supporting my point.

Sergio is the champ and the P4P rated guy, yet Cotto is the A-side because he's a much bigger draw than Sergio is. Cotto is getting the lion's share of the purse.
