Wards biggest fight had 160k PPVs

Canelo Golovkin sold 1.5 to 2 million
Lucky for GGG he had Canelo to dance with

Ward ggg would have sold no more than 400k

As an Olympic gold medalist he never got the love

Hate to say this, but Ward will be mostly forgotten in ten years. I'm sure he'll be mentioned when talking about ATG SprMW's. But that's likely it.

That's what you get for having a spoiling style. Only purists can love that ****, not the casual fans who spend their money on the PPV's. Like people want to see one another fight, Ward kindof does the opposite of that doesn't he.

Perhaps they should take to watching another sport, or watch Kimbo Slice backyard brawls.

Boxing ain't for em, and probably not for you either.

Nope.....Never. But he still has a very good legacy and hall of fame bound. He will be leaving the sport with all his faculties and enough money to take care of his future as well as his children's. That may be more important than extending his career to hopefully get a mega fight

not for much of anyone in the United States anymore. if it were not for Mexican immigration, it would be a totally dead sport in the States.

Ward's style and attitude didn't help.

He was happy stay in Jokeland milking it, and his style would bore anybody to tears.

You think a lot of people will be talking about him? A non-draw fighter with a style that turned most fans off? He;s in the books, that's for certain. But no one will be clamoring to talk about Ward. And this isn't a knock on him, which is how you'll take it I'm sure ( ;) ), but moreso on timing and the state of boxing he fought in.

He might be forgotten around here, where people tend to almost exclusively talk about the same dozen or so current high profile fighters.

But when you're considered the best in the world at any point during the color TV era, those guys tend to be remembered.

That's one way of looking at it. But at any given time, we usually only have 2 or 3 elite level cash cows in the sport. All things considered, Ward did very well for himself. He was a unified champion in two weight classes, retired undefeated, and he made some pretty good coin for an elite boxer who wasn't a big draw.
