True but I keep saying the same regarding Canelo and Golovkin,it's only boxing fans who know em whilst casuals would buyFloyd v McGregor and last weeks fight just go over their head.
I got to know Ward after he beat Froch and thought why is it he's not popular in the US and then I found out after seeing how he fought all his big fights,so annoying when he had the tools in the locker to fight fairly and exciting

    I'm a PURIST and I hate that ****.

I hate when a boxer is being OUT BOXED, and resorts to wrestling/low blows and corrupt judges to win. Ward was less skilled than Kovalev, that is why he needed all the help he could get, an even then he couldn't win without stealing it.

Seriously, some of you guys are riding this dude so hard it's crazy. If Ward was in a match and pulled out a magnum as he was getting out boxed and shot the other boxer in the **** and the ref declared him winner, most of his supporters would say that was a "Masterful performance". "Hey if you can get away with bending the rules, it's fine".

No it's not fine. There is a spot to draw the line with "bending the rules". Andre Ward crossed that line too many times recently. He would suck other guys off before the match to make their legs weak if he could. He has no honor and will stoop to any level (LITERALLY LOL) to win.

Nobody knew who GGG was when Sergio was prime. It wouldn't even have been a PPV fight .

If Sergio faced off against GGG instead of Murry or Cotto, its a PPV fight. I'll take the prime out of the equation.

Well, of course some will remember him. That goes without saying. People remember Oba Carr, and he wasn't really a world champ ever. My point is, he never reached the echelon of stars in the sport. Now, that's not a comment on his accomplishments, as he is.

But he was never a draw or remotely highly popular as an active fighter. And as a retired guy? Well...he's in the books, and of course none of us an see the future. I just have my doubts that he'll be someone that guys, 15 year from now will be remembering for his fights. He'll be lost in the mix and just another excellent fighter from his era. My two cent.

You admit GGG is a star and it would have been a mega fight?
