With a recent win over Jason Ravelo ... Andre Ward solidified his contender status. Becoming the new NABO champion and a top 10 contender to the WBO strap held by Joe Calzaghe. He's only IMO a couple fights away from a world title shot. He also is a top 10 contender by the WBC, I know Joe won't be there but how would this pan out. Does anyone see him in a title fight by years end or begining of next year. What do you guys think?
Nobody but Kessler will dominate the 68's for years to come. but out of the contenders Ward has as much chance as anyone as climbing up there with the Dane. I like Danny Jacobs to be right up there too. Super middleweight has an exciting future now Calzaghe is gone. Kessler then Bute, Ward, Jacobs, Froch, Taylor, Dirrell.............Its going to be a mouthwatering division.
Depends on his management doesn't it? They are bound to be cautious with a fighter of this pedigree, but it is possible. I don't like his chances based on what I've seen so far, but I'll comment when I've seen last nights fight.
He should wait and take a few more Ravelo type fights. Born in SF raised in Oakland the BAY is in the house. GO SOG!
Kessler isn't as schooled as Ward and i'm sure that if Kessler takes either the WBA or the WBO strap that Ward would be waiting to take it from him. Ward is about (2) defenses of the WBO NABO strap and he's set for a world title fight or atleast a title eliminator. He's going to get more clout being that he's a former amateur world champion and an Olympic Gold Medalist.
Luckily for Ward he has a big enough name to get the fights that will get him a title shot. Something tells me we'll soon see him in the ring with guys like Allen Green, Codrington or Bika,
