Exactly, and apparently has been well paid for it. But now, after being "destroyed" and fighting on friday night fights, and various undercards, why now should he suddenly expect a $million+ fight. Well, really I know why, but things have changed. My guess is he will be "well paid" for Ward, but probably not a million(s).
Are you kidding? Do you really think Pavlik would fight someone as dangerous as Ward for less than a million dollars?
If Pavlik is not going to fight someone like Abraham or Froch, he should fight Ward. I think Abraham and Froch are more winnable for him.
He could make six figures against almost anyone in the top 20. Pavlik is undoubtedly aware of this so why would he fight someone(Ward) who could possibly end his career for the same money?
Fat Dan chat line: " Matt M. (Worcester, MA) Dan, is Pavlik-Ward any closer to actually getting done? Dan Rafael (12:05 PM) I am told by both sides that it is getting closer. It's down to money. Hopefully, they can agree. I suspect it will get done." http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/id/46114/boxing-with-dan-rafael
Pavlik has said many times that he does not need to fight, he has saved his money. If Pavlik is not getting the kind of money he wants he will retire is what he said. He has said in interviews that he is not taking punches unless he is well paid. He said being able to talk to his kids when he gets older is very important to him and he is not going to risk it for less then what he thinks it is worth. And he frequently points out the kind of money he got paid for fighting Gary Locket as a measuring stick. He fought Locket for 2 million so he should be getting well paid to fight Ward.
Why not ? Ward is the champion and Pavlik doesn't bring **** to the table to be allowed to say anything against it. :hat
Pavlik will be lucky to get $200,000 for this fight and should jump on it. He is nothing right now and needs this opportunity to get bigger pay days. Without another big name in the ring, Pavlik isn't getting paid over $15k
I don't think Pavlik sells his name for $200k, it probably costed Bob Arum and the like more than $200k to get him to California, let alone fighting Andre Ward! Didn't Pavlik turn down the Bute fight, sighting $300k as "peanuts"?
It's a helluva lot more than 1 mil, and KP is very wisely holding out for more. I'm not referring to you, but, 1) People don't seem to have a ****ing clue how much money Pavlik generates. 2) I wish these assholes on ESB would educate themselves instead of making ridiculous wild ass guesses about what is going on. 3) Andre Ward will KO/TKO Kelly Pavlik on the same day that Jermain Taylor becomes heavyweight champatsch
