It is just an opinion but I always like to see a guy have some actual fights. Then he does the whole thing work out and train, have the fight, get in front of people and then prepare. I think Hearns beating Virgil Hill in 1991 had a lot to do with the fact he had 2 fights within 4 months of the Hill fight, and Hill did not have any. It helps fighters, especially older ones.
meh, was kind of expecting something like this. tho ward could win this even without any working arms.
I have a feeling that injuries are going to be Ward's downfall in his career. He seems to get injured a lot during training and fights. For a young guy, that's not good.
A pity, but injuries happen. Hopefully it is not that serious. Ward now faces a difficult timeframe since he has to defend against the Magee-Kessler winner before May 2013.
Ward has said all the right things but the reality is they always viewed this fight as a stay busy fight w/ a name and nothing more. not saying kelly hasnt earned that view from ward's camp. nonetheless i'd be curious to know if andre's team thinks something better could come along given a couple months more time.
