Is it confirmed that Ward demands $2mil for a tune-up or it's just a speculation? Either Medina or Periban are acceptable opponents for a comeback fight and HBO should allow them. However, it's nowhere near worth $2mil and if Ward truly demands that, then it makes sense that HBO doesn't want to overpay him for a tune-up.
I'm a little confused here, I don't personally understand all the details of what's going on, but I want to. >.< ... All i can see at my end, is Froch/Hearns has been stating they want this fight, because they feel it's the best/only time they can ever get a real shot at Ward, as his been so inactive/home advantage etc.. Then i see Ward is trying to get every other fight except Froch to simply retain his belt, when his been put in a position where he can with Froch. This is why i don't really understand why you'd think Froch would be avoiding the fight, but Ward isnt? If Froch was in Ward's position, trying to get other fights, wouldnt he be accused of avoiding Ward? >.<
Your being guided by your man crush for Ward. WBA mandated Wards next fight and he's trying to fight other fighters. That should tell you what you need to know. Degale fought Groves in an eliminator to fight Froch he lost. Groves movement have Froch issues whereas Degale stands right in front of you and often squares himself up. Froch has fought the biggest names at SMW don't even insinuate he's scared of a squared up flat footed Degale. He gave up the belt because he wants to check off his bucket list for a big PPV fight in America. Degale does not bring that and he's mandated to fight Ward a much better boxer who he wants to fight in UK to maybe avenge a loss on a rusty fighter which gives him 2 advantages. He will most likely lose but at least he is trying to take the fight..
He's a Ward fanboy and thinks Ward is showing he wants the fight by trying to take other fights while Frochs team reserving a venue means he wants to avoid Ward. No logic whatsoever!
Honestly who cares, Ward appears to value tuneups more than fighting a guy who he schooled. He doesn't want to cede to the demands of Froch, even it means making a decent amount of money. I think he'll fight a couple of tuneups and then fight Kovalev next year on HBO.
Ward has already stated he is not moving up. The WBA isn't stupid fighting Froch a guy he can beat again handily will put him back in the mix at 168. Whereas him not fighting brings them no money as it seems every fight Ward brings to HBO they shoot down.
I heard from Duva that Ward was interested after a couple of tuneups, that the fight against Kovalev will happen. He can fight his tuneups on different networks. He's not going to stay in a division to fight the Dirrel brothers.
:nut It was recent when he said about staying at 168 but I do hope he moves up. He won't fight a Dirrel and AA won't fight him it'll kill what he could achieve with his talent.
:-D Aww now now, I'm a huge Froch fan & ofcorse, they'd be no better time than now for Froch to take this fight, although I still feel Ward would win! ^_^ Ugh, Ward/Kovalev is a mouth watering fight! I don't doubt Ward would be scared to face anyone in the ring, but for some reason i'd be quite surpised if he did.. maybe just 'cos i feel it'd be too good to be true :-D
This is spot on. It's good to see that not all boxing fans are deluded when it comes to Andre Ward. Ward is now ducking a 37 year old fighter he has already beaten, and skipping out on a decent payday. Why? Because no mather what WARD WON'T TRAVEL
More like want no part of fighting for peanuts in Oakland. I too would favor Ward to win the rematch, but theres no valid reason for Ward refusing to fight where the fight actually makes real money.
