I was surprised. Shows Ward is unbiased. He has every reason to be biased, but still chose GGG.

I am uncertain. I think GGG has to get behind his jab and let Canelo come to him and then maybe press later or press, but cautiously with the jab.

But Canelo looks really crisp with those combinations. I can see Canelo getting to GGG first, especially on the inside. It seems like GGG has to keep it on the outside for this fight.

We'll see. Anyway, thought it was interesting that Ward picked GGG. Maybe experience such as Olympic pedigree?

    Thoughts?

I'm going with CST's pick that mother****er is getting all of his picks right this year. I picked GGG originally, was going to change it to Canelo but I'm deciding to stick with it.

CST has not been right, Willie has.
Canelo wins this fight by SD or UD.
Don't change ellerbe , Oscar would not sacrifice his guy to Borat if it was not a sure win.

Yeah, sounds about right. Maybe 65/35.

Few years ago, it's like 90/10 or 85/15.

Things change. GGG is out of his physical prime (particularly for his style), Canelo has gotten bigger, Canelo has gotten better, and Canelo almost certainly will have the judges on his side.

Maybe he just knows how to read odds? Throwing out the term 50/50 for any fairly close matchup is clueless and getting annoying. If you're going to express it as a probability percentage, no, almost no fight is '50/50'. If you really think that how about put some money on the underdog and see how much you have left after a few fights. God, that phrase should be censored and after repeated use get a ban here. Amongst boxing fans it's getting as bad as every millenial idiotically misusing the word 'literally'.

I agree with everything in your entire post however I was wondering what you meant when you said "particularly for his style?" What about GGG's style makes him more vulnerable at his age in your opinion?

Anyway, GGG is going to need to knock Canelo out to win this fight. Based on what we've seen the last year or two, I'm skeptical that will happen. Canelo by scandalous SD/UD.

Being a pressure-style fighter takes a lot of energy. You have to make the fight, stalk, come forward and so forth. It takes more energy than hanging back and counter-punching or picking your spots and pot shotting.

GGG hits hard, but he doesn't just rely on landing the "one big shot." He more wears you down by putting you in a cocoon of intensity. This breaks guys down and opens them up.

But to do that requires a lot of output in stamina. Also, GGG takes a fair amount of shots to land his own. That also takes energy.

A guy like Pac will fade faster than a guy like Mayweather will, just because of the style difference. Pac isn't exactly like GGG is (Pac is heavier on speed and doesn't pressure like GGG does), but it's a similar kind of thing. Age hits that kind of fighter faster.

Someone like Foreman can fight for a long time, because he just has so much power in single punches that however he hits you will have a big effect. Whether he is swarming you or not.

It's golovkins last 2 fights that has everybody a bit less sure about this than they once were. As much as I'm no fan of ward usually, when he isn't talking about himself or an opponent he really is worth listening to.

90/10 if GGG uses the same weaner work as Ward did in the Sergey rematch.

That's right, all Golovkin has to do is punch Alvarez in the testicles and the referee will call it a KO like he did when SOB landed three very low blows in a row to Kovalev! However, Golovkin goes by the rules, SOB does not, I would not surprise me if Alvarez hit to the testicles, Tony Weeks will say it's OK....................One thing has to be remembered, Alvarez has a rematch clause, Golovkin was not allowed the same, Alvarez is allowed to take steriods, Golovkin has to take drug tests, Alvarez has the judges, referee, boxing commission, Alvarez gets 70% of the money, Golovkin only gets 30%, Golovkin has to come into the ring first as the challenger, Alvarez comes into the ring as the champion, Oscar has already made a deal with the WBO for Alvarez and a rematch with Mayweather. Oscar can't afford to lose his cash cow! He has to pay for all that coke, women's clothing, fishnets, and a sex change costs huge money, no Oscar is up to no good, but if Alvarez gets knocked out as Nacho Beristain claims, then there will be a rematch......................but never forget, the judges in Vegas are well known crooks, corrupt as hell!

to be fair i dont think he needs to show bias, he has since gone on to much bigger and better things , he puts all this ducking talk to bed by moving up to 175 taking on a bigger and better more proven fighter in kovalev and beating him twice.

i think 60/40 in favour of GGG is bang on. tho i myself am picking canelo
