Sounds impossible......I think Nard is at his best whenever that cards are stacked heavily against him. The motivation and his spiteful nature fuels him to prove the masses wrong. I'm kinda diggin where this is going.....he did promise his dead mother he was retiring after his 40th birthday if I'm not mistaken. ..I'm sure coming off his decisive stance not to ever fight Ward won't be that difficult.

Not gonna lie, I wouldnt mind seeing it. Also would truly be a passing of the torch type fight, unless Hopkins did the impossible. (For the record, I think Hopkins would do better then expected)

    But,

Hopkins vs Froch is a good fight for Hopkins, if he can lure Froch here to the states.

Not to mention, and its weird that I havent seen it brought up here on esb yet, but GGG said he would fight Hopkins at 175.

theres plenty of options for Hopkins right now.

Ward would probably retire him. I'm OK with Hopkins not wanting to fight his successor. Of course I'd watch if it happened.

If he speaks truthfully about not wanting to fight Ward, it makes rather good sense too. Would you want to fight Ward and basically get humiliated in a game of chess?

BHop is one very slick and crafty fighter but HE KNOWS that Ward is on his same level, if not even a bit more. And Ward is a more complete fighter too.

I think the LAST thing BHop would want is fighting someone who can beat im and somewhat humiliate him in his own game. BHop is a great controller. Ward is a MASTERFUL controller. And he has fought and won against better opposition in his division comparatively than BHop in his own. Not that its BHop's fault, its just that the SuperMids is a stacked division....

I could be wrong and reading too much into this but you know Bernard is a chess player in how his mind works.....two or three moves ahead.

this would probably get about 50 more buys than Anthony Mundine vs. Bronco McKart did.

Oh definatly. At the time I didnt even think of that. But really I was starting to think how bizarre it was that Hopkins was being sooo vocal recently on how he would never fight ward for no amount of money. And to then make that what he does right after the fight?

Whether you are right or wrong its a good catch, wouldnt suprise me if thats what he was doing.

    :good

I think it's necessary for Ward to have someone like Hopkins on his resume. ..not that it has to be Bhop....but a legend who he could take that torch from, like you said. For Hopkins.....he doesn't need Ward. But he keeps pushing that needle...its in his DNA. Ward is the kind of fighter who Nard might hang them up if he loses. GGG is another good option for Bhop.

Um, no. Froch and Abraham do not compare to Trinidad, or Tarver, or even Winky. Pavlik beat the fresher undefeated Taylor. Hopkins beat a fresher Glen Johnson. Hopkins beat a better version of Pascal than Froch did as he came off of his win against Dawson. Hopkins is an ATG, Ward doesn't even qualify for the HOF yet.

At this stage, Ward would win by being much more explosive and similarly skilled.

I would watch. Bhop (or Ward) would be crazy not to do it for $5million or more, each. But I'm sure both would go for that.

Not too much to lose for Hop.

Would be a bad setback for Ward to lose.
