Zero chance of it happening. Ward would ko Hopkins. He's not going to get lulled into that slow, Hopkin's pace. He'll push the action and make the old man quit or the ref stepping in.
Corner stoppage late in the fight in which a completely exhausted Bernard doesn't fight it would be my guess. As durable, tough, skilled, and cagey as Bernard is, he's declined a lot in every regard in the last few years. Ward is awful for his style now, considering also that Ward can give so many looks and push the fight at different intensities/paces. I've noticed Bernard's become more fundamental and basic in his approach. More left jabs to respond to another fighter's jab and to set up his right hand/left hook. He doesn't have the legs to consistently be moving/setting up traps for his right hand leads and counter power-punches. The movement he shows now (which is still quite impressive for any age) is more economical and purposeful. Offensively, he's lost a good deal of explosiveness and crispness, too, and can't pull the trigger on a lot of counter-punching opportunities he used to be able to with regularity.
DOOFER.... Dawson CHALLENGED Ward @ 168... His reasoning is that he had came from the SuperMids and wouldnt have a problem getting back down, as he said himself. He was hoping to pick off Ward and didnt work out well for him Get being a blatant hate-ass ***** about Ward, you're pitiful and shameful
The only chance this fight goes the distance is if Ward purposely pulls it back and lets the old man finish on his feet, which might be a possibility. But then again, Ward is a fierce competitor himself and getting that ko would be sweet.
atsch Dawson challenges Ward at 168. Specifically saying he will do it at Wards weight during his challenge + Ward accepts = People **** on Ward for not fighting Dawson at 175 Dawson opened HIS mouth and mentioned the guy in the weightclass below him, and said he would fight him at HIS weight. Ward obliged him. The rest is history. Now theres a dozen posts a day saying the same **** over n over shitting on Ward because Dawson challend him for his belts at 168
From what I understand, Dawson wanted a challenge and Ward who was the Supermiddleweight tournament winner was'nt willing to go to 175 lbs or meet Dawson at a catchweight. Dawson's reaction to that was, "**** it, I'll fight you at 168 lbs!" Fine and dandy, I respect Ward for his performance against Dawson. What I'm saying is that instead of wanting ot fight Hopkins who Dawson allready clearly beat at 175 lbs, Ward should be open to fight Dawson at Dawson's weight of 175 lbs. I would think that beating Dawson at 175 lbs would prove his performance against Dawson had nothing to do with Dawson being weight drained. I think clearly here the bigger challenge at 175 lbs is Dawson and not Hopkins! Open to fight a 48 year old at 175 lbs who's allready been soundly beat by Dawson! :huh
B-Flop would duck then flop during the fight. Keeps kissing Ward's ass hoping he shows pity. Pathetic.
hey idiot nobody wants to see Ward VS Dawson again at any weight. HBO is not going to pay for that. Ward vs Hopkins however would be a huge fight
I doubt Ward could knock out Hopkins and I think Bernard would do slightly better than expected. I mean, if there if one fighter out there more skilled than Andre it's Hopkins.
Hopkins only fights fighters that is 1 dimensional. Sad but true. Especially at the late stage of his career.
Ward needs a name opponent. This is a terrible fight though... yawn. Would prefer Ward in with Martinez.
He did fight Dawson twice. Hopkins quit and lost decisively against Dawson. That is'nt grounds to have Ward fight him when there's better matchups out there .
