How do you know his being dishonest, Edison Miranda hit like truck himself and at one point in his career he was a feared competitor. Don't take it personally...I've sparred and played basketball against guys that were highly touted yet experienced a tougher time with more pedestrian like operators when compared to the industry standard. Floyd clearly stated Augustus was his fiercest foe and look at that man's resume.
Right that could certainly be the case....people getting in their feelings after this fight I lost money! no one cares about your future plans for world domination just got sidetracked by close decision loss! joking joking....
power is a wierd thing. iv sparred guys that are strong, they hit hard and they might even be close to 10kg heavier then me. but the shot just does not hurt me in a certain way. yet iv been hit by 1 guy in particular who is wild as ****, not accurate and about my body size who just frightens me, theres something about how his punches feel (even if they arent landing crisp) that makes me fight completely different. power is the wierdest thing when it comes to boxing, back when i just started training we had a guy from iran originally who was a pro, i never sparred him but by all accounts no one had ever tasted power like his, my friend described it as "hed punch me on my left side of my body and the right would shake and rattle" keeping in mind this guy was only one division above me (and in the same division as my friend who at the time had 2 amateur fights but had been training for many many many years and sparred with ALOT of fighters) - http://boxrec.com/boxer/648226
Ward is just starting the mind games for the rematch. He's probably already succeeding in getting into Kovalev's head. I expect Ward to win far more convincingly next time.
Lets play devils advocate here and convince ourselves that if SK stepped on the gas more he would have taken Ward out early and would have never been slowly grinded down and out strategized for 60-65% of the fight. Will SK continue the fight from round 2 or will Ward just evolve and add to his apperception this time from round 12 forward.
Indeed, this man is being an ass atm. Little grace wouldn't hurt, it was an extremely close contest. But Kovalev also shat on him after the bout and called him a simple fighter, not a champ etc etc.
Great point sir, Personally I've been hit with shots sparring with full head gear that had me buzzed an entire round and then get hit by the same dude without the headgear with 10oz gloves and nothing no lasting effect. It was interesting because the 16oz with headgear had a mallet type reverberating effect as opposed to smaller gloves no headgear just damaging a smaller circumference. When I read threads about fighters getting dropped and hurt during sparring and keyboard warriors using that info and investing in it I chuckle inside knowing they just exposed their ignorance., I don't want to belittle those who haven't put on gloves however if your around the fight game enough you know those who have participated and can reveal some of the unknown truths.
my fav line for people exposing themselves is "yeh but with or without headgear is COMPLETELY different" which is such a load of ****, headgear makes almost no difference to me and pretty much everyone i know agrees, your brain is still getting thrown around violently in the skull, the headgear just stops you getting bruised up, swollen and cut. people who take sparring camp stories or footage with any merit really are idiots, if you are at the start of your camp, HELL IF YOU HAVE HAD 3 WEEKS OFF TRAINING you come back and feel so LACKLUSTER, you lost all your sharpness you have built up and you need to slowly earn it back, plenty of guys kick you ass in that time period. sugar ray leonard in his book said he loved the few weeks before his fights in training camp because he got to give it back to all the guys who beat him at the start of it
dude kovalevs expressions DURING the fight scared the **** out of me, i noticed ward attempt a few shady tactics at time and kovas death stare on the breaks were almost enough to give it a 10-8 round for him
Sounds like a talk from a guy who knows he did not win... Yes I know he won it, but Andre knows the truth in his heart...
He was a monstrous puncher at MIDDLEWEIGHT. Not only is Kovalev a bigger puncher by virtue of being a larger man, he also probably hits a good deal harder p4p (meaning the straight-up disparity in their power is huge). ...and there is no way Andre found Edison "trickier" on the night to deal with than a guy who arguably took 6 rounds off him (for the first time ever) and chopped him nearly through the canvas.
What do you think is more ludicrous Floyd claiming E.Augustus was his toughest fight Or Ward claiming Edison Miranda was his toughest. Hm.
