Understood, Ward may be defining trickery as punches coming from odd angles with an unorthodox style. Of course I wouldn't equate that to Edison having a higher ring IQ no way.
I've seen far worse character displayed by a slew of other fighters. That said posters here are grasping at straws. The butt hurt is still fresh.
Maybe so but everything we are mentioned is all relative to a time and place or situation.....in general I've seen guys like Danny Garcia swing for the fences and delivery awkward looking haymakers and in the same round throw a straight right laser that resembles a boxing 101 diagram. You don't tend to see SK executing his punches without proper technique and with Ward he never truly felt the need to thus allowing Ward to get a better sense of trajectory, distance and location. Boone was unorthodox so was Bika both were a bit more complicated to unravel. Froch, Kessler and Kova all utilize something more conventional.
Ward is indeed a BIG piece of ****. After a decision which was a gift from american judges he has no gentlemen attitude and instead of speaking at least few polite words about he's competitor he started to delete everything that could be considered having quality from what Kovalev express in the ring. He's arrogance, self sufficiency and excessive proud make him getting lower and lower as a person. This attitude has nothing to do with sport and this will increase the radicalism against US fighters, referees, judges and fans. He displays no respect but ask for respect.
This was clearly his biggest test, and the evenly matched bout showcased that. Not buying this comment from Ward, and neither do the marks on his face. Just a boxer talking some ish. Nothing to see here.
Had Kov won and said that Pascal gave him a harder fight than Ward...you guys would be in oily Ass orgy giving props to each other.
