Here is a free advice: never ever bet against a guy who killed a man in the ring

counter free advice never ever bet on a man that was willing to expose himself to be a punching bag so he could kill a man.

the bookies are often the most shrewdest of them all. at 4/6 they are feeding the public a generous price in a fight where ward should be a much bigger favourite. :thumbsup

I disagree and Kovalev should be the favorite or a pick em fight. Ward is moving up in weight against a guy with a style that's a bad match up for him. Ward is good but he's no PBF, he doesn't have the reflexes speed nor defense of PBF. I'd like the Ward bet more if he was the underdog.

How is Kovalev's style a bad match up for Ward? He has been fighting boxers all the time that had similar styles to Kovalev.

its not at all, kovalev style matches up well with ward. if kovalev had devasting speed or a gigantic reach then maybe so.

Kovalev can box has a nice jab is bigger longer reach and devastating power. He also doesn't make that many mistakes isn't wild and picks his shots. He's not a guy who can just beat by outboxing him Ward will have to take risks by fighting him on the inside to beat him and smother his power. He will have to come at Kovalev like Porter did at Thurman from the opening bell of their fight and force the fight on the inside for long stretches. Not easy to so against a bigger man. If Ward had better defense(PBF or prime Hopkins level) and the reach advantage I would feel more confident but he doesn't.

Kovalev is tailor made for Ward, he'll be picked off with the left hand all night, I have a feeling Kovalev won't see the final bell.

People expected Ali to win that fight. Joe proved the critics wrong for one night. But I get the gist of what you're saying.

You could be right but I happen to disagree. Kovalev is the real deal, he's no bum.

even with common opponents skill level is not always apparent. ie tbe vs pac. however once in the ring it becomes immediately obvious speed footwork countering hitability distance controlling ring generalship, we have seen ward masterful in various aspects and kovalev less because of his KO aggression.

I just dont think aggressive KO stalking will win the day against craftsman applying their trade.
