Ward should fight Kovalev, but Kovalev doesn't have to fight Stevenson

Kovalev should fight them both.

 

Wasn't Stevenson set to fight Kovalev but then Uncle Al took him away to Showtime?

 

Whoever said he doesn't? I think It's Stevenson who needs the fight more cuz Kovalev beat better competition and showed himself #1 LHW they both need to fight each other in the end.

 

Technically, Kovalev by-passed Stevenson the second time IF you truly drinking every word that Stevenson and Yvon Michel are saying but you look at the global portrait, this is pure bull****. Most boxing fans can read between the lines and understand that Stevenson, his promoter and Haymon are playing with some technicalities.

 

Kovalev and Stevenson are the only guys Ward can fight and make money & regain popularity - after such a long period of inactivity. All other fights at 175 are pointless for him. He can have a tune up with Pascal and then what? Imagine he fights Fonfara, who will watch that besides hardcore boxing fans? He will not make any money with those fights and he can actually get himself knocked out on a bad day. This is not the case with Kovalev. He already has huge following, he can knock out pretty much everyone in the division and he can make decent money doing it.

 

It's pretty clear that Kovalev is ducking Stevenson. He's waiting for him to get old so he can add another senior citizen in his list.

Just imagin if the situation was the other way around and Stevenson and his team did what Kovalev and Katy Duva did.

 

I'd find it very hard to believe Stevenson is willing to fight Kovalev after reading his recent interview saying "I won't fight Pascal unless he's the mandatory."
