    :goodfair point...
showtime will be pushing him to fight froch....that would be a bad career move for ward as froch will turn ward into damaged goods....

He is being hyped for a good reason. It is ok, I did a thread about Paul Williams very early on in his career and he had the same response. The fact is Ward will be the real deal and he has everything television likes. he has a good attitude and is well spoken, gold medalist, hasnt lost since he was a young kid.

He has all of the boxing ability in the world. He didnt display it all tonight because he was in for a very rough fight with a tough guy and still nearly won every rd. I gave Miranda one round, thats a dominant performance. Wait and see, its only big fights for Ward from here on out. Next fight should be for a title.

Froch will get outboxed so badly people will be putting up "exposed" threads and such after the fight. The skill difference is massive and Froch is a horrible defensive fighter going in against the best defensive fighter in the division. Get ready for a mismatch.

Miranda was not even using his left hand, jab, hook, counter, uppercut. Ward was open to any of those punches all night. He was using his left hand as a measuring stick to for his right. Any smw, with a decent pop in both hands and countering skills will be a tough fight for ward. Dominating????? Wow! I thought I heard it all.

That's how I see it to. I like the guy, but he hasn't shown me he's top class.
    Yet.:hey

119-109 was the scorecard. Ward won nearly every round. I think everyone expected Miranda to have a better showing. A case could be made for Miranda losing every round. I think that falls under the label one sided or dominant.

There was also a 116-112 score. Dude I am not badmouthing ward, he looks like a stand up guy, I am just repeating what you are saying about him being the best SMW or can be, I find that hard to believe. It is only my opinion, tonights showing was great against someone who is VERY unpredictable. I really do wish him the best against the elite, he will be needing it.

Yah did you really agree with that 116-112? There is always screwy judges. The consensus score was 119-109, the same as my card. 2 other judges and most of press had it the same, as did the announcer. I believe he can be the best SMW.

I dont think he is right now based on resume. I still reserve that spot for Kessler because Kessler has earned it. But as I staed Kessler is a big dissapointment to me and many boxing fans. I really dont think we can expect anything from him.

I think he has the best skills and potential at 168. FFS guys like Andrade and Froch are in the top 5, these guys are horrible defensive fighters. Ward eclipeses their limited skills by a light year.

ward might be well skilled but top level fighting requires a bit more than just skill....

Okay right, I agree with you on most of your points, unfortunately I did not score the fight, but I would have had a decisive ward victory absolutely. As far as skills, he possesses them obviously, but the "best". NO WAY. You cant say he has a better jab then Kessler. You can't say he has a better body attack the Bute. I could go on but I don't want to take away from the win and his fans. He does possess skills that could be worked on to perfection.

    :rofl

Ward beats possibly the biggest slugger in boxing, ie worst technique and lack of fundamentals, and suddenly he'll beat Froch 120-108, Andrade, Bute & Kessler and win multiple belts.

ESB - The home of over-the-top knee-jerk reactions.

I am not saying he has the best of all attributes of all fighters. I am saying that his combined skillset at 168 is the best though. Indeed kessler has a better jab. But he doesnt have near the defensive skill of Ward or the footwork, lateral movement etc. Kessler defintely doesnt have the ability to throw as many diversified shots as ward can with either hand.

Certainly people have better individual peices to the puzzle than Ward but thats what this post is about. To discuss fighters abilties combined.

I will say this. I think it is absolutely possible for someone to stop ward. I dont think anyone at smw right now will beat him in a decision

A lot of us Americans have been following Ward since the Olympics. He is our last gold medal winner. I have high hopes for him and I also believe he has the skills to accomplish the hopes. I guess you could liken him to a less chinny khan if that helps you brits:hey

Froch really has chosen a tough route looking at the WBC ratings....the dude has balls.

like I said he should have chose the WBO route like Clazgahe so he could havoid anyone credible

    LOL
