Froch so far has backed up everything he has said about fighting the best and making a name in America. IMO what the guy lacks in skills he makes up for in determination. If he wasnt fighting my man ward I will be rooting for him. Even if he loses I will be a fan.
All the fight showed us is Ward can box, we already knew that. There's a difference to out-boxing guys like Miranda, who has absolutely no technique or boxing ability, and out-boxing guys like Kessler. With Kessler's excellent jab, great fundamentals, and superb understanding of range and fantastic timing, add to his power, you will see what level Ward is really on if and when he steps in the ring with somebody like Kessler - and you will find it's several pegs below the level you are currently pinning him at. Ward's chin isn't great still and I'm struggling to see whether he really has the power to keep the top guys off of him, he had 12 rounds to get rid of a guy in Miranda who's been knocked out twice and also has a bit of a shaky chin, and he couldn't.
Everyone's entitled to their opinion of course, but I think it's a bit far fetched at this stage to say he's the best. All that win does is put him in the top 10. I'd love to see him fight Dirrell next. Prospect v Prospect.
Just my opinion of course, I try to back it up with reasons. Ward is no longer a prospect he is a contender as is Dirrell. The champions with the belts now have to fight these guys. Dirrell and Ward know they have to fight eventually. Dirrell has already stated as much. But now is not the time. These guys have earned their shots at one of the alphabets. So it is up to Froch, Bute, Kessler and Balzay to fight these guys. BTW this isnt some new jump on board thread I have been following ward since the Olympics.
It will come down to money as per usual though. I could see Froch travelling to Denamrk or Canada for unification bouts, but unless he gets some serious paycheck from Ward or Dirrells camp I can't see him giving up home advantage to fight someone with their name value. They would have to go to Nottingham for the fight. Balszay I think is lined up to fight Stieglitz next, so we'll have to wait and see how that pans out. Will he turn out to be another stay at home champ? If Ward can get to Froch though, all well and good, but I think Bika would be a good fight for his next outing. Dirrell needs a top 10 fighter to test himself against aswel, maybe Allan Green.
If being a straight 1-2 fighter was good enough for Pac to get to where he did pre-Morales, it's good enough for Kessler :yep
I thought Dirrell beat Froch and I'd like to think that he'd give Ward more than a handfull. Abraham is a beast though, and I still favor him to win it all.
Ward's best punch is his head. His billy goat head butt is extemely hard. Why does Ward get all his fights in his home town?
Because he is the next golden child of showtime. They have been hyping him since he debuted on showtime. it looks like their attention to ward in this instance is well placed.
Man who was the prophet that started this thread? I like to go back and look at people's comments after ward has taken over. He will dominate allen green and knock him out!
Did you guys see those feints tonight? Some of the best feints in boxing and wow his inside game is just becoming crazy good with short punches. A+ performance tonight and soon to be p4p top 5 material, just needs to build the resume up a little bit more.
