Lennox being missed is also helped by the state of the heavyweight division over the last decade. I was as big a fan of Lennox as the next guy but have never understood the argument about Lennox's resume being on a different level to Calzaghe's. I remember having a discussion about that with a guy who had a list of Lennox's fights. Go match them against Calzaghe's and remember Calzaghe didn't lose any of his either. Where Calzaghe did let himself down was his final fight as mentioned earlier in this thread. A win against a beatable but much touted up-and-comer like Pavlik or Dawson would've seen him bow out with less money but more respect than the Jones fight gave him .

    100% agree with Pavlik.

He blew it not fighting him, maybe worried of possible upset, getting knocked down by Hopkins won't help. But Calzaghe should've beaten him easily, but that glory went to Hopkins ironically.

His last three fights would've been Kessler-Hopkins-Pavlik, all more or less in prime.

Had he not ****ed around with Manfredo sillyness, it's not unfathomable he could have finished his career thus:

    Lacy-Tarver-Taylor-Pavlik-Hopkins-Dawson

I think he would have won all of those.

And his legacy would be unquestionable

Give Joe Froch's balls/drive/ambition then what a fighter he'd be!

Never my favorite fighter, always seemed negative. That said I dont like Ward either or Dawson.Boring *******s all of them.Calzaghe v Ottke would have been a good cure for insomnia, shame that fight never took place, another defining moment for Joe.

Ward has been given better chances than Calzaghe was. People never leave Joe alone. With all due respect I was on your **** thread last night saying that Ward was not a hype job (you just have to watch him) and that he would beat Dawson. So you have no right.

Let's be honest. Wright, Tarver, Taylor priced out of Calzaghe fight.

Wright priced himself out of stacks of fights, that's not exclusive to Calzaghe.

Taylor was THE MAN when there was talk of him fighting Joe, he got $3m for the first Pavlik fight, by which time people had already started to doubt him.

It'd have taken $5m+ to secure that fight, AND Joe would have had to travel. Taylor wouldn't even come here to fight Froch, after coming off two defeats to Pavlik, and a man he was apparently supremely confident of beating.

Joe Calzaghe has still fought and beat better fighters.

Calzaghe didnt want to fight Manfredo in the first place, He fought peter because he was offered a fight with Taylor if he beat Manfredo. But then after winning that fight Taylor out priced himself, just as hopkins did in 2002. So there you cant blame calzaghe for not fighting either hops or taylor as they backed away....To be honest though Calzaghe thought a better version of Hopkins who was well seasoned
