Quesstions that should be asked are: 1. Why was the ref so prejudiced against Kovalez? 2. Why did the interviewer who is usually hawkeyed in such matters feign blindness when shown the low blow replay? 3. Why was Kovalez so indecently calm and almost happy after the loss and talking about rematches? This is getting to look more and more like those fake set up wrestling matches where the outcome is rehearsed in order to increase the possibilities of rematches so as to rake in more money. Glad they didn't get my money to watch this BS! Money talks!
Agreed. We can't let fouls become a part of boxing. People ***** about Mayweather, but I always give the guy credit. I don't like him as a person much, but his boxing skills were great, and he didn't fight 1/10th as dirty as Andre Ward fights. Ward used a game plan tonight based on low blows and clinches, both of which are illegal. If your CORE strategy involves illegal tactics, you are not a real boxer. There are many other boxers who are more skilled than Ward, Ward is a special type of person. He will stoop to any level of patheticness to get what he wants. I've said it before and I'll say it again, he would suck a man's **** in order to reduce his opponents stamina before a fight. Guy is pathetic.
Ward kept ducking his head everytime Kovalev pawed with his left. So a lot of those body blows Ward was throwing were coming from a low position. I believe early in the 7th round, Ward nailed him with a shot on the belt line, and Kovalev played the martyr role and pretended like it him in the genital region. That's all you need to know about Sergey's mettle when the going gets tough. There's been SO many great fighter's in the past that have been nailed with shots MUCH lower but continued to fight on. Once again, Kovalev had stamina issues, something I didn't think he'd have this time around. I wasn't a big fan of the stoppage, but it was only a matter of time before Sergey was about to get knocked out. He looked worse for wear after that right hand landed upstairs. There might have been one, maybe 2 shots that were clearly below the belt line. The other's were right on the belt. Incessant complaining isn't going to change the fact that Andre beat the hell out of him the last few rounds. Great win for a great fighter and while I'm a fan of the Krusher as well, I hope Ward doesn't grant him a third match. Sergey needs to start taking his losses like a man.
Looking at the replay how did the ref miss that. I feel bad I don't want to take away from Ward because he did have Kovalev hurt and Kovalev was tired but that last punch was clearly a foul. Instead of waving off the fight Kovalev should of been giving a rest and Ward warned or deducted a point.
Give Kovalev 5 minutes rest and deduct a point from Ward, and it's a completely new fight. Who wants to watch boxing in these situations?
I came home from watching the fight last night and thought....hell, I am just not going to watch boxing anymore. However, in the light of day I am sure I will. Might give WWE a chance though. At least they don't act like it is real.
The only fraud is the guy who promised to end the others guy career then ended up running, hugging and gassed in a corner for the last minute of the fight.
