Obviously he slit himself with a razor blade to get out of the fight.

Here's the full account of what happened according to Virgil Hunter:

    A few points:
-Hunter doesn't know how it happened. Calls it "the freakiest thing I've seen in my life".
--Ward was wearing full headgear which included a faceguard and also had vaseline on his face.
-Showtime was there filming and caught all the action on tape.

This is the price you get for head butting, Froch has two targets. Chin and Eye

    Was it from a headbutt?
    Does he practice in sparring?

He obviously knows Froch is too dangerous for him at this point of his career. So he's doing everything in his power to delay the fight, even cutting his own eye (or whereever the injury is) with a razor blade.

most cuts that require no stitches take about 14-21 days to fully heal.

most cuts that require stitches take about 28-35 days to fully heal.

It all depends on where abouts the cut is situated tho, these are only averages, but im guessing for a professional athelete who is in a much better health condition than your average joe healing time is slightly quicker.

So Ward prepared a headbutt tactic for Froch. Or , maybe, the sparring partner kicked the mighty SOB' ass.
