Ward has sounded insecure of Canelo in the past. Every boxer answers questions with their own career and legacy motivating the answer.

I think Canelo comes in last in that one. All nightmare match-up for someone kind of slow of foot and iffy stamina towards the championship rounds.

So I guess guys can’t soak up knowledge from last greats anymore. The guy is about to be in the biggest fight of his career vs the P4P #1 fighter. Does there have to be ulterior motives to simply pick apart a previous P4P fighter’s brain.

Remember when Wlad offered his services to help AJ before the Ruiz rematch. This is not uncommon.

I feel the same way about Canelo. The question is, who comes in first. One second I think when Calzaghe is firing on all cylinders, he's got it in the bag. Then, I think of how remarkable RJJ was. I can't count Ward out either. He was a grinder, great ring IQ and doesn't know how to lose.

I do want to point out that this thread is about motivations for Ward to train Plant, not for Plant to ask advice from Ward. So your first paragraph doesn't apply.

As for the Wlad/AJ angle... they fought previously, speak highly of each other to the media, and according to both AJ calls Wlad once during every training camp since their fight.

I watched the fight which Ward won. I disagreed vehemently with the fight commentary. I watch fights round by round and I am extremely knowledgeable about boxing.

I know about the threads original question but it quickly turned into Andre Ward is jealous of Canelo in multiple post. Just stating that it’s common for fighters to look for advice from previous greats.

I think that is the point/question of the thread, though.

Anyway I do totally agree with what you say in that regard. It is flattering to be asked for advice, especially professionally and especially, I would guess, as a retired sportsman.
