If it wasn't for the sanctioning bodies blocking the fight, James Toney was lured into fighting Wladimir Klitscchko with the guarantee of 3 trucks worth of traditional giant bratwurst sausages.
Neutral venue is the best way, everyone knows it. Even Ward fans will want Ward to leave Oakland for the fights, anything else would discredit Ward himself. He is a great boxer and if he can't fight outside of his own back-yard then he will undermine his own ability in the face of the public.
Maybe the germans will disown AA now, after all hes just really an armenian and maybe only german when he was winning. If someone with limited skills like foch can shutout AA then ward will have no difficulty no matter where the fight is i think, but AA would have a small chance in germany, especially if ward was somehow put off his game with the crowd surrounding etc
Germany is a terrible terrible venue for any fight. I think they should have a dual card with Froch-Johnson in London, sell out a stadium, make it a ****ing event naahhhmean?
It's going to be in the US because it's a US television company, but I agree it shouldn't be in Oakland. But you guys may not understand that Ward won't get support anywhere in America outside Oakland. If it's in Vegas, you'd have a quiet, probably smaller crowd with a few travelers but not many. On the East Coast, Ward would get no love at all.
It does'nt effect how many viewers the fight would get having it in Europe. The only reason the TV company would be against it is because Ward would have a bigger chance of losing the fight and Showtime would have a bigger chance of losing a marketing asset. This whole circus has been put together to try and gain along term marketable fighter, they have now dropped Dirrell and are banking everything on Ward so I'm guessing they wont allow Ward to fight outside of the west coast and just turn him into abit of a joke outside of America.
Didn´t last Saturday´s Bika -fight gather 4.150 spectators in Oakland? The fact that Ward is undefeated in the tournament earns him the right to demand AA -match to be held in home yard.
