Kessler can complain all he likes about the headbutts, the fact is he was getting out-boxed, out-sped and he didn't look like he had he will or skill to do anything about it. The Ward camp more of less admitted that they used Calzaghe's game plan, which demonstrated that Kessler has zero ability to adapt. Even Ward after the fight said that Kessler kept on doing the same things even though they weren't working. Kessler will probably still do well against the likes of Froch, Taylor and Abraham, who won't out hustle him and force him off his rhythm. Ward looked great technically, he didn't demonstrate much power but he didn't need to with boxing skills like that. The most important factors highlighted by this fight for me were: 1. Kessler has not got the ability to find a way to win when the styles are all wrong. 2. Kessler has virtually no inside game. 3. He also looks past his prime, but that's what you get when you waste your best years messing around in court. 4. Kessler's a nice guy but he has the ability to *****. Both of his losses have been 'because' of something. The broken/hurt right hand against Calzaghe or Ward's headbutts. The fact is he got figured out. 5. Ward looked great against Kessler's style - but it's still too early to say how he'll do against others.
Yeah sums it pretty much up for me as well....but Ward were allowed to use His head for butting way more than I like to see. But probs to Wards :good
I didn't see the fight, couldn't handle another 5am bout after a harsh week, but I was expecting to see "Kessler Victorious" headlines this morning, and i'm shocked! Few things I'd like to know if anyone wouldn't mind answering: a) were these "headbutts" a deciding factor of the fight at all? b) are all of wards super six fights going to be in his hometown? If so, how has he arranged that? Gratz to Ward for beating the tournament favourite!
ward boxed very well today he out skilled kessler but what about all the hold and hitting since when has that been legal ٩(͡๏̯͡๏۶hittin in the clinch is how the dane remarked which ward was allowed too do the whole time without any kind of warning ... Congratulations too ward he fought a great fight showed how much skill he has
Kessler's timing was off. He fought one no namer since the calzaghie loss. As the fight went on his timing got a little better. If he can get those cuts stitched up i expect he to bounce back against froch. I picked ward to win the fight. His boxing skills are far superior to anyone in the super 6.
Beg to differ on your #5. Ward has twice the balance of dirrel. If froch had trouble with dirrel imagine what ward is gonna do to him. Abraham is too slow, i guess he could land a lucky one though. Doubt it. Taylor gets knocked out. Dirrel has no shot and he knows it.
andre ward won.plain and simple.there was a nasty headbutt at the end,but ward schooled kessler.i'm very surprised.kessler rules.i didn't expect ward to dominate as he did.either way i hope kessler and froch get it on next.kessler obliterates froch.it might be ward and kessler in the finale as i can't see abraham beating either guy.hate as you will
Kessler has got the skills to get to the final - but he have the will? - He seemed uninspired - I don't know the exact english frase - but I'd say he looked "full" as oppose to hungry. He didn't seem like he wanted to win - he looked like a fighter exspecting to be able to win on routine alone - just another day at the office kinda attitude. Ward came in hungry and showed he wanted to win (mayby a little too much at time). One thing that borthers me about Ward though is the dirty fighting. He doesn't have to do so to win - we don't want to watch it - and it's foul play - plain and simple. I could mayby understand it, if he needed to fight dirty to win - but he doesn't. And to top it off we have to listen to him claim that he isn't a dirty fighter - atleast he could admit to the obvious! But probs for winning.
