If over there Ward would win a unpopular points decision, with at least 1 card being ridiculously wide.
KOvalev aint letting this go to the judges. Ward doesnt know how to stay outside, and KOvalev can shorten his shots better than anyone Ive seen in a long time except for GGG. This fight wouldnt be as good as some think. KOvalev KO >5.:admin
Ward UD. Although Kovalev has that equalising power which would keep this fight on a knife edge throughout as Ward could be 11 and a half rounds up and get KTFO. This could be like a much better Froch V Taylor fight. Ward prob coasts to a decision though.
If someone with Cleverly's pedigree couldn't handle Kovalev, Ward (who's struggled much more with significantly easier competition than Nathan) wouldn't stand a chance in hell.
Can't tell whether you're being sarcastic or not. Who on Clev's CV matches up to the super six entrants?
Ward would school Kovalev,he wouldn't lay a glove on him.Ward has beaten better fighters than Kovalev.
Im thinking a very close decision for Ward, but im not sure. I would like to see Kovalev more, but the guy is a crusher thats for sure.
It's hard to see Kovalev - Froch happening, cos Froch ain't really built to go up or down (walks and fights a steady 172-3), and Kovalevs basically said he can't really go down either (I think he fights 182ish), but I think it would be a good yardstick as well as being an excellent fight. TBH I just couldn't say with regards to Kovalev - Ward right now. Ward is very good at spoiling and I've no idea how Kovalev would cope with that. If Kovalev could manage to keep the range, I can see him landing enough on Ward to win, but I've seen too much of Wards ability to dictate the nature and pace of a fight to think that this couldn't go the same way. Right now I'm also leaning towards the Ward UD, but assuming it's at 175 Ward might, unusually, not have a size advantage which could make a difference.
Kovalev is a bit too slow to land on Ward the way he did on Cleverly. Ward's defensive awareness is through the roof, and he would potshot Kovalev round after round without taking too many risks. I don't think Ward's strategy would involve infighting as much as it did at SMW, you gotta be wary of Kov's short power hooks.
