Only a puncher gonna beat kovalev. Or an iron chinned pressure fighter. He breaks down defensive boxers with not much power.
The Krusher's skills and especially his POWER are the real deal, Ward will have never fought as dangerous an opponent, so you need to put down the stem:deal
I rate Kovalev highly and never wrote him off, I favour Ward but its not cut and dry. You seem to be writing Ward off altogether just because Kovalev beat Hopkins which makes no sense to me
No I'm writing Ward off because I've been one of Sergey's most devout champions since I joined the site. I never gave Hopkins a chance to beat Kovalev, and I'm not giving Ward a chance either.:good And I know they have a different skillset I just think Kovalev would steamroll Ward.
Before the Hopkins fight, I would have picked Ward without hesitation. But seeing the way Kovalev was so good at controlling distance with Hopkins has me thinking this is a fight Andre would be better to steer clear from for the time being. It's still close to a pick'em fight, but I give Kovalev a slight edge at this time. Ward will have problems with Kovalev in the same way that GGG will have problems with Ward. Size matters in those match-ups.
Hopkins has a better beard than Ward, I can concede to that. But Ward does have better skills (at this point anyway), superior athleticism, better defense, and far better offense.
Well, I think he's a good deal better, and he would be a good deal more competitive with Kovalev for as long as the fight lasted. Hopkins struggled terribly with Dawson, whom Ward outclassed with ease. So while their styles have similarities, make no mistake the Ward is the far better boxer, far superior athlete, and that he has a lot more tools in his tool kit. For instance, Hopkins' left hook has been nothing of note for years, whereas Ward has an exceptional left hook (see the Froch fight).
