Beterbiev seems to have good short punching power and the ability to push his man off of him. Ward isn't nearly strong enough to hold a guy of Beterbievs' size and stength. Therefore, the only advantage Ward thought he'd have would be gone. His power jab won't be enough to win him rounds and the patient work from the russian sees him break Ward down for the finish within 8 rds.
Kind of a non sequitur, but has anyone heard what Beterbiev is chanting or saying to himself. A bit strange. You can see he is constantly mouthing something while in the ring. Probably just a nervous habit but it would be interesting to have an interviewer ask him what he is saying to himself.
I was thinking about this earlier on today actually. He's a devout Muslim so maybe he's saying a prayer or something.
Lol! As if that would ever happened. People forget Ward ducked Bute, his most logical and lucrative fight at the time. We will see what happens but Ward might not be able to make 168 anymore and won't want to fight at 175 when the title holders are Stevensona and Kovalev, let alone Beterbiev at some point.
Could be. I know when I was competing when I was younger often times I would get a song in my mind that I couldn't stop looping through my head. It could be as simple as that. But you could be right. Maybe he is praying. He is a bright guy, with a law degree.
Yeah, he is an intelligent chap. I think it's either that or he's saying ''I must not have these improper thoughts about my manager. I must not have these improper thoughts about my manager'' over and over again. lol In case you haven't seen his manager. https://leguerriermoderne.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/magnifique_web.jpg
I agree with this. Ward will not be able to impose his physical style upon Beterbiev. Plus I have a full blown case of Ward fatigue...
This Ward praising stuff is getting silly. He beat Froch, old and blind Kessler, drained Dawson and he's unbeatable. He is good but not that good. Ward has hands full if he fights top dogs at 175, Dirrell at 168 or GGG at 164. He is far from unbeatable.
