Ward vs Calzaghe

Calzaghe didn't defeat a single A class fighter whom was in their prime in his entire career, according to his fans he magically beats a prime undefeated champion, who posses a massive skill advantage, after he ducks almost every serious challenge for over his entire career.

 

you guys are a disgrace disrespecting Froch after this fight. calling him slo mo. Froch takes fights Joe wouldn't. Calzaghe is the better fighter no doubt but come on the guy was 34 when he fought Lacy and had been fighting Bute style competition until then.

Right now id slightly favour a prime Calzaghe but his less than stellar resume says he wouldn't even know how to fight someone like Ward, Name one fight he had that says different?

Hopkins? please he was 43 and still barely lost.

I'd take the home fighter in either outing.

On neutral ground, I'd lean toward ward by a **** hair.

 

Up till the Lacy fight he didn't fight anywhere near the caliber of competition that Lacy has faced. Bute would have disposed of Lacy within three rounds. Lacy is Bute caliber competition and was a massive step up for Calzaghe.

 

This is a hard one. Ward have many tools in his chest, but how can he adapt to calzaghe and his volume punching...

Workrate alone might be a problem, but also the fact that Calzaghe is able to think on his feet.
I don't like Calzaghes style very much though, and it also depends how you count his sometimes unclean punches.

So If he was considered past it when he fought Calzaghe(after which he schooled Pavlik) then if ward fight's him that would be considered beating up on a pensioner

 

Lets be honest Calzaghe had the worst promoter in boxing and didn't rate himself until he beat Lacy. he then fought Hopkins and Kessler. Bute still fighting guys like Brian Magee.

Ward will ud Hopkins in the worst fight ever, Calzaghe got outboxed early and outworked an old man. Hopkins was already outworked by Taylor ffs.

Joe could unretire today and still beat Ward if he still has the stamina. Ward is a very good fighter with a great boxing brain but Calzaghe simply would not allow him the breathers he likes to take. He's very crafty and economical in how he exerts himself, but Joe would be all over him for 12 rounds. I'm sure some will laugh at that idea, but styles make fights and Calzaghe is just as wrong for Ward as Ward is for Froch. It would be like Calzaghe - Hopkins all over again but Hopkins is wilier than Ward.

He has along way to go then if his to match RJJnr, he is good don't get me wrong, but styles make fights and Calzaghe in my eyes throws to many punches and RJJnr in his prime was lightning slick.
