Calzaghe all day long - he would never allow Ward to get inside and do the work he did on Froch, and from the outside, Calzaghes work rate and hand speed would win rounds Ward IS the best SMW since Calzaghe, but he wouldnt beat him
The fact is that Froch was able to win 3 rounds at the very least, he just didnt take his foot off the pedal until the end. Ward got tired from pushing and clinching all night long and was fighting someone who fough in very straight lines and threw sloppy punches. im not taking anything away from Ward, i dont like him but he deserved the win tonight, however joe was good at fighting on the backfoot and has dealt with someone who fights a lot like Ward in Hopkins. It wouldnt be a pretty fight but seeming as Ward likes to engage more than hopkins, a prime joe would have lacyed the **** out of him at times. I never expected Froch to beat Ward on points, i was just thought he would have been more aggresive than he was tonight and got the stoppage what with the eye injury but win some lose some. Ward still needs to get past bute before anyone can agree that he is the best SMW at the moment
Lets see how ward moves on from here shall we? If it is Hopkins and it looks very likely Then all the Calzaghe knocking for facing him will be laughable Lets see his next move
Tell me one fight were Calzaghe fought off the back foot? He adapted to Kessler from around round 5, to time him in the centre of the ring. But tell me who Calzaghe fought off the backfoot with counter punching and making his opponent walk onto his punches/slaps?
He would get inside, because he would have no problem dealing with him inside. Watch Eubank vs Calzaghe. and see how good Calzaghe is on fighting on the inside.
Calzaghe has a high work rate and fast hands, but it was only ever tested againt one elite fighter in his whole career - and the guy was 43 years old by that time and Calzaghe can count himself lucky to have just edged it. Taylor did much better than Calzaghe did against Hopkins and the limited Pascal didn't do much (if any) worse in their first fight.
listen i'm getting ****ing annoyed at thism nonsense. i said already Calzaghe prime would edge Ward. All i said was that at 27 Ward is miles ahead of where Joe was at that point.how the **** can you keep a straight face and argue different., Sorry obviously because of his victories over the mighty Rick Thornberry and Branko Sobot and Chris Eubanks Ghost. compare that to Ward at 27 and go **** yourself
He did so against mitchell And the trainer later said they were not expecting it Versatility was a big strength of Calzaghe as well as work rate and hand speed
CHIN> Calzaghe by miles POWER> Calzaghe SPEED> Same STAMINA> Calzaghe JAB> Same INSIDE FIGHTING> Same OUTSIDE FIGHTING> Calzaghe. UD Calzaghe.... Beating a 34 year old Slow-mo Froch does not make you better than Sir Joe.
Sorry dickhead your not getting off that easy. answer my questions how many weeks notice did Eubank have for the Calzaghe Fight coming off two losses to the invincible Steve Collins? and was Eubank robbed in both fights against Collins?
