ward vs clould . i dont like it . pavlik fight much better i think . i dont even like talkin bout fights where the fighter arent even in the same weight class . andre never even hinted us hes gunna move up to 175 in the near future. eventually im sure he will move up but i think hes 2 or 3 more fights at super middle
I was actually kind of high on Cloud until the Zuniga fight. At times Zuniga had Cloud completely confused, and Z Man does not do anything all that confusing!
It's about the same. They pose different challenges for Ward to overcome. And the challenges aren't all that much for Ward. So, Pavlik being the money-maker between him and Cloud is the tie-breaker.
:huh He's been chasing Dawson for years now and was signed up to fight Pascal and Pascal pulled out of the fight. Could they all beat him? Sure. But I haven't seen anything indicating that he's avoiding guys, he's not really in a position to avoid any top guy.
Ward is unfortunate that he has only had leftovers to fight at 168 and 175, Calzaghe cleared it out so thouroughly that Wards best win is still Kessler who Calzaghe took the 0 of. Cloud on paper would look better than Pavlik even though its no better a fight. Ward should fight a top undefeated LHW like Cleverly who brings combinations and workrate attacks, though we have seen how Ward gassed against Froch and was getting beat in the 12 round against Froch and Bika so Cleverly would probably be too big a risk with his stamina. Stick with Cloud, it would be an easy win and Cloud has an 0 and is a world champ and thats something Ward hasnt done, is beat an undefeated world champ
No disrespect Boo, but you're probably not the most unbiased person on this topic. Reality is, Pavlik hasn't done a whole lot in the last 4 years after his 1 really good year in the sport. If you want to use that logic, anyone could point to Pavlik's pretty underwhelming, listless performance against Alfonso Lopez in which after that fight you seemed to go in damage control mode and talk up that Lopez looked huge and was a LHW in there. The reality is, in his next fight, he lost every single round to Dyah Davis. Then, in the following fight he lost to someone who was 3-5. Zuniga, over his best weight and faded, is still a better listless win than against Alfonso Lopez. And then lets look at the trajectory of the last 4 years or so. Gary Lockett-early KO win Bernard Hopkins-Loss, basically lost every single round and the difference in class was staggering. Marco Antonio Rubio-Win,Retired in the 9th Miguel Espino-Win, mid round TKO Sergio Martinez-Clear decision loss Alfonso Lopez- Majority decision,as previously mentioned, pretty bland performance against a club-level fighter. Aaron Jaco- Early TKO against a weak fighter. Scott Sigmon- Mid rounds TKO against a self-taught, self-trained, self managed boxer. Will Ronsinsky- Clear UD against a solid lower level opponent. So, that leaves 4 years of either smashing tomato cans or losing clearly and emphatically to top competition. With Rosinsky and Rubio being his 2 tweener wins. In the same amount of time Cloud fought the late Julio Cesar Gonzalez, Clinton Woods, Glen Johnson, tweener win in Yusaf Mack, the aformentioned Zuniga, and basically got his ass kicked by Campillo. The wins against a faded Clinton Woods and Glen Johnson are bigger than any win Pavlik has had over the last few years. The thing that makes it more even is the fact that Cloud got his ass kicked by Campillo. Campillo is one of the best fighters at LHW, but he doesn't have a big promoter behind him, doesn't have a big following. Hasn't made appearances on HBO and isn't renowned. So it possibly looks worse than losses to Hopkins and Martinez. So, as far as the actual sport goes....its pretty equal. With money(the thing that drives this sport) being the tie-breaker, it goes to Pavlik
