Ward vs Crawford if both were in the same weightclass

Ward is not better than Floyd. Hardly anyone is.

 

They are all very good and highly skilled but the answer is they are not as skilled as Floyd neither is even Sugar Ray Leonard or Roy Jones Junior. Ward is closer but not quite Floyd level skills. When we talk of skills level mention Pernell Whittaker, Charley Burley, Willie Pep, Sugar Ray Robinson.

 

Leonard is highly skilled and athletic one of the best fighters ever just saying Floyd and a few more were more skillful. Leonard did not have quite the defensive wizardry of Floyd and Pernell.

Crawford is really a southpaw. Whenever he switches to orthodox, he barely throws any straight right hand, it’s as if it’s nonexistent. I’m not saying he’s as good or better than Crawford, but Jaron Ennis has a better eye-pleasing display of being a switch-hitter.

As for Ward vs Crawford, Ward would have ****ed him up. He would’ve exposed Crawford’s limited inside fighting game.

 

Ward. You can set aside any other reason, comparison, or who did what better (for what it's worth, I'd say Ward did a lot of things better, including footwork, disrupting rhythm, and making adjustments to his opponent's successes). The reason Ward will win is that he cheats. Head, elbows, low-blows, there was never a shortcut he didn't take when he needed to, and sometimes when he didn't need to. And for whatever reason, the referees would let him get away with it (it certainly wasn't because of his drawing power!).

So even if he ended up behind in a fight with Crawford (again, my two cents, not likely), he'd just billy goat him, or hook an arm and hit "on the belt", or just straight up turn an overhand into an elbow, and the referee will conveniently blink to miss it.

 

Anyone who thinks Ward won his first fight against Kovalev needs to go to the optometrist.
