Pretty wierd that they did this. Money wise it would have seem better for promotion to put the WBC belt up for grabs in the AA vs Froch fight (not that it needs any more promotion).

Still the belts will have to come through the froch and AA winner so I guess it's OK. Problem is, why would they put a vacant belt in there for the Dirrell vs Ward fight while ward already has a belt? They could have made sure the Finals had two belt holders for a unification bout. That just makes more sense promotion wise anyway.

    Wierd move by the WBC.

Agreed. But then they wouldn't get their preciou$ sanctioning fee.

I would have figured the title would have went to the Froch-Abraham winner. It does seem a bit of a strange move since Ward has a title but Dirrell is the number one contender so I don't see any controversy with this. It seems like this is a way to help intice Ward-Direll to get into the ring and as long as Direll-Ward and Froch-Abraham winners meet for the titles at the end of the tournament then everything works out.

whilst im a bit gutted for froch, it dont really make a difference because the winners still have to fight each other.

and to be fair, even tho froch was just a champ of the wbc, it would be a bit ridiculous sanctioning AA when dirrell schooled him.

whilst i wouldnt personally rank dirrell above froch the fact is ward and dirrell are coming off victories and froch and AA are coming off losses.

Winner of Froch vs. Abraham is the next mandatory for the winner of Ward vs. Dirrell/titles according to the news reports.

Seems like their are fattening the pot to try & get Ward & Dirrell in the ring.

can't stand allan green but i think green and the person who's the next highest rank deserve to fight for this belt since green was abou to fight kessler for it before kessler dropped out of the S6.

They've already guaranteed Green a shot @ one of the titles after the S6. I don't think many people would like to give Green the shot now. Not only did he lose to Ward, but he looke like he didn't belong there in the first place.

thanks. that's news to me. i agree he looked like he belonged on shobox or espn. i bet some where in arkansas jt is was saying ,"**** i would of put of more of a fight than this mother****er" when green fought ward. i hear pavlik is on the pac-margarito undercard. don't know what green's status is with showtime but that's a nice crossroads fight for both pavlik and green.

A green vs pavlik fight would do nice for the fans but the winner wouldn't get too much credit afterwards IMO.

Ward and Dirrell are both coming off wins and Froch and Abraham are both coming off losses but surely it would make sense to let Froch fight for his old title? :?

Anyway, title or no title Froch/Abraham is going to be great. :bbb
