The punchier Dirrell who let his hands go vs. Abraham was great to watch. I like both boxers but I think we saw Dirrell actually use his offensive potential effectively for the first time in that fight.
Yeah, it was the most eye-pleasing version of him we've seen so far and a far cry from the lily-livered display of ***gotry against Curtis Stevens. Somehow it still left me "ho hum". :conf
I have nothing against Dirrell but Id rather see Ward versus Froch/Abraham in the final as Dirrell has fought them both. Ward is also fast becoming one of my favourites.
Agreed, the hit and run and hold vagina dirrell is absolutely awful, the Froch fight being a perfect example. Dirrell and Ward are both weird, mercurial boxers. I never know which version is going to show up on any given night. At any rate, if this semi-roy-jones-jr-esque-but-boxing-a-little-more version of Dirrell keeps showing his head around more often I think Dirrell could become a different level of fighter. As he is right now though, I just think the guy is confused and likes to fight how he feels as opposed to establishing a rhythm and building on it.
I would be very happy to see Dirrell win. Initially, it had a lot to do with him advancing or not. I didn't like the idea of him not advancing due to his somewhat controversial loss to Froch. He's had a bit of a rough patch here with that loss and the DQ with Abraham, so I 'd like to see things turn around for him. However, at this point it appears he'll advance regardless??? Since there's no one else in the tournament. I don't know what's up with that. Part of it is personality, part of it style, in which I prefer Dirrell to Ward on both fronts. He's going to have to fight a great fight to beat Ward. I'd like to see him continue to improve the way he has been.
You can't pick a favorite in Froch-Abraham. This is one of those survival of the fittest assault slugfests. The punchier puncher with the bigger set of balls will win.
I'm a Dirrell fan so of course i want him to beat Ward. And i hope this fight happens that's not in Oakland.
I want Ward to win, here's why: 1) I think Dirrell is weak mentally in the ring. 2) I think Dirrell might have played it up to a degree against AA 3) No rematch for the final 4) Ward is the business 5) Having Ward in the final will make it a bigger fight and he does not deserve to go out after one lose when everyone else got a second chance.
Pretty much. The question is, does he club Froch in the face at the wrong time? :think If Abraham actually fights in the first couple of rounds I'd say he punks Froch out of there pretty quickly. But knowing the King he's gonna start punching meaningfully in round 6. EDIT: Sleeping on Froch is always a bad idea, i swear the ******* finds some way to win fights that i just can't understand
Dirrell sometimes act like a whiner. I dont like that attitude, but he is a very talented fighter and his boxing style is exciting to watch (except the Froch fight) So i hope he beats Ward.
