Ward beats GGG on points, GGG is a good boxer, but he isn't as smart as Ward.

He finds the holes in the other guys game and exploits them.

Against Canelo, he shut the ring down , protected his body against Canelo's body attack and set his own attack up off the jab. Pressure, pressure, pressure. Canelo didn't like it at all. Jacobs he found was vulnerable straight up the pipe and fed it to him the whole night.

He broke up Murray's clamshell defence with body blows and uppers. When Murray tried to clinch him it worked about twice before Golovkin adjusted by taking a step back everytime he wanted to clinch and lit him up. Against Monroe you can see how he stalked him into a corner and waited for the 1 shot counter and dropped him. With Wade he found a home for the overhand right early and he knew Wade had no defence against it.

He sets up his combinations beautifully, varying his angle of attack and his target so that when the other guy has hands high, he works the body and when he has them low he angles the blows high.

Kovalev who is a very conventional (if excellent) boxer, beat Ward the first fight from pillar to post with no "special effects" whatsoever. If Kovalev had a better gas tank we would not be having this conversation. Golovkin > Kovalev as far as creativity is concerned.
