Hell I wanted to see him fight Quillen but he ducked him to. I think Lee would fight GGG but he has a fight coming up. He really has no options right now so a fight with Ward who's actually the best opponent he could fight is available the fight should happen. Also if GGG fights Ward and loses he can always come back down to 160 and then more guys will be willing to fight him like a Cotto or Canelo or Quillen.
i love how its "well so and so bring money and ppv" when ggg gets mentioned....yet others have been trashed for that approach.....some people are just awful and pathetic humans
Ward's skill goes out the window as soon as he gets hurt, and only a fool would think You can get in the ring and not get hurt by GGG
Anyone suggesting that Mayflower fight GGG just wants to see Mayweather killed in the ring. And every sensible fightfan is happy to concede that Canelo Cotto should happen FIRST. No GGG fans think he is worth the risk of spoiling that payday for those guys.
i wasnt talking about cotto or canelo specifically....this goes back way before the thought of cotto/canelo for the mw title
I agree. That's why k2 is open to the other avenues to get this made. It catapult him to top 2 p4p and would do 2 mil buys vs Canelo
Well, there are certainly instances where one fight for short $$$ cancels out or gets in the Way of a mega fight. Recently, well, 4 yrs ago, Wlad was gonna give Chisora a 600k payday, but an abdominal pull caused them to reschedule for March. Haye saw the negative publicity he was getting because here was 15/0 Chisora going to steal his glory. Haye then forced Wlad to cancel the Chisora fight in order to make the unification. Chisora painfully took the step aside $$$, and the K2 gave him a verbal promise title shot. He lost to Fury so they withdrew that shot but when he stormed back against Helenius, Wlad was busy, but Vitali gave him his payday.
Ah cool, So Ward who has been basically begging and pleading for a middleweight to move up and fight him in his first fight above middleweight, while avoiding every single big fight above his own weightclass his entire career now, may finally get his wish to prove that a very good bigger fighter beats a very good smaller fighter. All you Ward fans that wants their opinion taken seriously lose a lot of credibility as you keep trying to stall on him fighting Kova so that he can poach a middleweight. A middleweight that hasn't even had the chance to unify his division yet and people calling for him to move up to fight a guy whose done all he possibly can at his weight and hasn't had a realistic big fight available there for years now but wont move up himself for a big matchup Cracks me up. Never before have I seen such hypocrisy at work in boxing than Ward fans criticizing Golovkin. And to be in such a rush to see Golovkin not even get a fight to get accustomed to the weight for Ward shows just how bad you guys want to see him lose. A winner would set themselves up for success by getting a gauging fight vs a top 5 guy there and getting an idea of how they do at the new weight, should they come in lower, how their power carries up, ect, what they need to fine tune. You don't go fighting the best guy you ever fought 8lbs higher then you've ever fought IN YOUR FIRST FIGHT THERE :rofl Anyways, its a hell of a fight if it happens, which Id rather see a middleweight stay at his own weightclass, but ay, if it happens then it will be one of the best matchups of the year on paper, but I have a feeling Ward will make it look easy. Though if Golovkin starts to find a range on Ward it will be interesting to see if his power carries up.
"All you Ward fans that wants their opinion taken seriously lose a lot of credibility as you keep trying to stall on him fighting Kova so that he can poach a middleweight." and you ggg fans keep stalling on him fighting ward so he can poach on a guy who is a welterweight and has 0 wins and fights at the 160 limit....see? trust me....k2 makes the fight with ward...and after that youll see ward tax kovalevs rear too
You make some excellent points. From a neutral standpoint, GGG should stay at 160 where he is perfectly suited. But from a Ward fan's perspective, this is the fight that can potentially put him over and bring him to the next level after the inactivity spell. Either way, GGG's a boss if he takes this fight against Ward at 168 - even if he gets outclassed as I suspect will be the case. :smoke
He will give him a shot , after takin 1 voluntary or maybe 2 and a rematch with cotto or floyd , all that before ggg gets a shot , i say another 1.5-2 years Canelo steps in the ring with GGG. if you think WBC will force Canelo to anything you are crazy mate.
I want this fight. however, don't believe it will happen. Believe if it does happen GGG will knock Ward out. not always right but hope the fight occurs.
