Yes, among the mainstream this fight will bring a lot to him financially, building his name and gaining more recognition. But in terms of the amount of respect or credit he'd get for this particular win from knowledgeable boxing fans, it'd be pretty minimal as it stands, unless Golovkin goes on to do some great things after losing to Ward.
Good post. But you're less confident than GGG. He's only waiting on those unification fights because the $$$ they'll bring. He's just as confident of beating ward as he is Mayweather. Roc just needs to make the $$$ right, and Bob has already hinted that Zurdo GGG could be done if GGG came up. So, GGG vs ward with concessions, then BHOP to let the old master see if he's got one last trick, then Zurdo(WBO Champion) on PPV next winter. For GGG it's just about financials now. Ward is a stepping stone, ESPECIALLY if he comes in at what he claims to.
you think ward really gives a rats backside what the minority "knowledgeable boxing fans" think about him beating ggg? look at these supposed knowledgeable fans and how they act on this forum regarding floyd/pac?!
ah the same loser who said i called cotto elite when i clearly never did....yer word is worth slightly more than boxing masters...but not much more
He may not give a rat's ass but that's besides the point, my point is that in terms of historical rankings this win doesn't do as much as some (Ward fans) would like to claim. People seem to think this would be some sort of ATG win, it wouldn't, it wouldn't even be his best or even second best win.
I'm not so sure I agree with the latter point, either. I mean, I see what you're saying. I personally give Golovkin very little chance against Ward (although WTF do I know?). But even so, a lot of knowledgeable fans DO think GGG can defeat Ward - be it 164 or 168. I see many people point to Ward's troubles in the Boone fight, and others stating that if he was badly staggered by the likes of Paul Smith, "What's he gonna do when Golovkin runs wild him?" Bottom line - I believe Ward would beat Golovkin, and possibly with complete dominance. But GGG is still good enough and intriguing enough that the fight remains an interesting prospect. And I think the upside to beating Golovkin trumps any would-be downside from knowledgeable fans and Ward haters alike.
Yup. The people who are saying Golovkin is ducking Ward stems from Mayweather's fan base, Ward's fan base, and probably Cotto's fan base as well.
And incidentally, I agree with this. It wouldn't be his best win, it wouldn't be his 2nd best win, and it might not even prove to be his 3rd or 4th best win. But perception is everything. And GGG has that power punching aura of invincibility thing going for him. I can't think of a bigger fight for Ward (from his perspective) right now than what Golovkin, unproven as he is, brings to the table.
I ignore those guys. I want it badly. KHTFO ward= 10X ktfo Canelo. If ward wants his cranium cracked, sign ROCs preliminary with the split the clause and VADA and prove he's still the best SMW. #waitingonward
"ducking" is an overused phrase these days, that usually stems from business decisions - not X fearing Y. :smoke
whos waiting on ward? you? lolol.... are you negotiating on ggg's behalf? are you allowed to do this? wheres ggg and k2s official offer and terms? havent seen it i do agree with you though...those making excuses for ggg not to fight ward should be ignored
Shockmaster do me a favor and don't reply to me, ya? Youre a waste. You are of the type that makes just engaging with you a waste of time.
