True. Ward is clever, fast, skilled and a winner.

Ward SOG is the future - and the future begins on 21 November!

Everyone will know Ward's name after this fight when he boxes his way to a UD win over the favourite.

I like Ward and I'm not writing him off against Kessler. Not by a longshot. The thing is that what we're using to gauge how Ward would perform against Kessler is still mostly based on potential and not actual pro experience. Beating Miranda was definitely a step in the right direction but did you honestly see that fight going any other way outside of the small possibility of Miranda catching Ward? Miranda wasn't gonna outbox Ward that's for sure. What I'm trying to say is that Ward has not been in the situations that Kessler has and has not faced nearly the same level of opposition. You see a guy like Librado Andrade who can take apart solid operators like Stieglitz and Tyspko and push Lucian Bute to the brink? Well, Mikkel Kessler basically pitched a shutout against him. Now granted, Andrade is no Ward talent-wise but he's a very competent pro. We haven't seen Andre Ward have to do anything extra or be pushed to a victory. I wanna see how he reacts to fighting a guy who's gonna make him earn a victory. I'm telling you that Kessler is not getting the respect he deserves. Saying that Ward is gonna beat him easily isn't very rational.

Miranda is a tougher knock then German journeymen like Hausler and Sartisan who have never been on that level.

Ward will be game. I honestly think, he is the most complete fighter in the touney. He does EVERYTHING well, and has that will to improve (remember him saying he was disappointed in his stellar performance against Miranda). I gotta disagree fully with the initial post of this thread.

Ward is going to surprise many people in this thing. Whether he beats Mikkel or not, I have no idea. But does he stand a good chance? Yes...definately.

    Agreed.

I'm not so confident as some fans, I think Ward has a live chance. And if he wins that first fight he'll gain in confidence and likely go on to win the tournament.

This is this great thing about this tournament. Alot of young prospects manufacture there their way to a paper title. But we will really get to see what Ward is made of.

    Very true bro!

Ward has shown a wonderful set of skills...he really is a very complete fighter...one that wants to get better. I think if anyone can beat Mikkel in this tourney, its him. The winner of this fight wins it all IMO.

the fight is in his hometown so he has a great chance of being rewarded a decision. I don't think Kessler will let it come to that. this is a huge step up for ward.
