Clazaghe had enough to back up every fighter he ever fought whe he wanted to. I wouldnt call him a banger by any means but he was stopping the kind of guys Ward has been going the distance with. The thing is though Calzaghe's game wasnt about power. He had a top class chin, excellent recouperation when he did get nailed, was very unorthodox, superb footwork, adaptability in spades, excellent speed and superhuman stamina. So far Ward looks like he has good speed and er well he looks like he has good speed.
Ward ld have likely beaten everyone Calzaghe face along with 6-7 other supermiddles i can name: Benn, Toney Nunn Mccullum Mclellan (maybe Collins) The fact is Joe was only THE MAN from 2005, the division he harvested was **** poor in quality.
This is about Ward, not Joe C. Ward is the weakest link in the tournament hands down. Of Ward and Dirrell, Dirrell has shown to be the better of the 2 in about every category. Ward couldnt beat any of the fighters you listed above imo. Honestly from what I know about Ward is he is a good fighter that doesnt excel in anything, unlike his opponents. Ward will be taught a thorough lesson when he faces Kessler. It will be a domination from start to finish.
No doubt these 2 are the weakest in the tourney, but I feel ward is better than Dirrell at several things. Ward is a better boxer, has better ring generalship and he's harder to hit that Dirrell.
I kinda wonder what some posters on here will say when the Euro's do a clean sweep in the first round. will there be alot of crow eatin, or excuses? The only one match in the first round that I'm not confident on picking the outcome is Taylor vs AA.
Kessler is the only euro I have utmost confidence in. Abraham and Froch are for the most part always going to be in a "pick em" fight in the tourney.
We are in luck! we can test your theory on at least one of those fighters that Calzaghe faced, Kessler!
Does Ward stand a chance against Kessler? Short answer: No Long Answer: Hahahahahahahaha.... Hell No! :yep
So basically you think ward is the best 168lber of all time bar Roy Jones? Ward hasnt beaten anyone as good as the best 5 wins on Kesslers list or the best 10 on Calzaghe. He hasnt beaten a top 15 168lb guy yet. In a couple of years he might be good enough but right now you are basing your judgement on wishful thinking and misinformation about how good those names you list actually were. Oh and the division Joe ruled wasnt **** poor. It just didnt have many American names in it.
