Ward would probably win, but he need to figth outside Oakland, and in Copenhagen it'll be another fight.
Why does he "need" to fight anywhere? Ward's one of the elite boxers in the game. And with all of these insinuations about fighting in Oakland, it never ONCE was cause for a victory. He decisively beat the **** out of everyone he fought there, anyway. :smoke
It would be a good payday for Ward in an easy fight for him. Ward is much better and Kessler is just older compared to the last fight.
serious question but do you think the same tactics would have been allowed in denmark that were utilised in oakland against kessler?
Perhaps not. Do you think Ward would have been any less dominant regardless? I mean seriously, he was handling Kessler fairly easily regardless of the clash of heads. I always thought a huge deal was made over that for nothing. Ward is simply a cut above Kessler.
We will never know how ward would react to the same kind of home comforts that kessler would have enjoyed. Imagine ward in the same situation out of is comfort zone? In fact I wouldn't bother cos it will never happen.
Kessler was the undisputed champ when he went to Oakland to meet Ward. Kessler did not have to go there, so why could Ward not repay the favor?
We all know the answer.. not saying kessler would win but seeing ward in a situation alien to him, being made to wrap his hands twice. Being mauled and butted without any intervention by the ref etc etc. I love it when i hear how the home environment isn't much of an advantage where andre ward is concerned.. Like him not wanting Dawson at 170, his team refusing super 6 involvement unless all fights were at home, it certainly matters.
At present ward earns very $ little considering his standing within the sport. i may be wrong but a fight in Denmark would be financially huge and very hard for andre ward to turn down:smoke
Ward only fights when the deck is stacked against his opponent. Why leave your comfortzone and have less chance of winning? Keeping the zero makes financialk sense in the long run.
Why? Who's gonna make him? Noone at 168 has that kind of leverage except Pavlik, and he still hasn't accomplished much at the weight. If Kelly can put together a few good wins, he might be able to force Ward's hand...
Kesslers career is a big mess... Taking a fight against Ward is not the best choice for him. Kessler should secure Abrahams belt, and take a last fight against Froch. Then its retirement. Kessler could have been great with the right staff behind him. Kessler in prime owns Froch, Pascal, Dawson, Bute, Abraham, Taylor and so on.. But Kessler had to fight Calzaghe and Ward.. The very best p4p.. To bad for Kessler. He could had A brilliant run...
