If I recall correctly, Kessler barely won a round or two against Ward. How could he possibly turn it around in a rematch? He was dominated completely. Ward is poison for Kessler.
lol, Ward would be the LAST person Kessler would want to face again... of course, some hardcore Kessler fans would say he'd pull a KO and as expected, the Ward Headbutt Conspiracy Theorists will be compelled to chip in and say, as long as Kessler wears a helmet, there will be a sure victory vs Ward... LMAO - blind desperation
the joke of the day is your viewpoint.... He got MANHANDLED by Ward. And yes, he didnt look lost - he WAS lost. Kessler was on his way out of the fight till a technical decision stopped it. He was getting hit more and more.... Ward tiring out? WTF? You gotta be wearing glasses from Denmark.... Exactly why Ward be tiring out? It definitely wasnt from the cumulation of punches Kessler hit him with, cuz that was sparse....
SOB has to worry about Dirrell first. Kessler should never have allowed that fight to take place in Ward's home town where Ward's personal referee allowed him to butt. Ward won the fight by illegal head butt, intentional. Ward's ref claims that head butts are legal as long as it is Ward who is doing the butting.
It seems to be a common misconception that the idea of a competitive shut-out is absurd. It isn't. You can have ten or twelve rounds that each individually happen to be close, but clear for one particular competitor. We see this quite often, actually. All the ten point must system tells us about a round is that one man got ten points and the other got nine or less. It doesn't tell us anything about how competitive the round was (barring knockdowns). You can have very narrow 10-9 rounds and very wide 10-9 rounds. At the end of the day, the scorecards still read the same. I'm not commenting on this fight specifically; in general though, the suggestion of a competitive shutout is not absurd nor is it even really uncommon.
Anyone care to comment, agree or disagree, anyone at all? If he can use some new found lateral movement and establish his jab which was completely abesnt in their fight then it will certianly be more competitive. His biggest problem will be the infighting which i don't see him being able to deal with and quite unlikely that he'll be able to avoid it as Ward it very good at implementing his gameplan. The only stratagy i could see is if he makes a big effort to tie Ward up like crazy and not allow him to throw when they get in close so the ref will break and seperate them and since Ward will be the one initiating the clinch perhaps he could make that work for him? The thing i don't get is KEssler does have good uppercuts and seems like he can throw good tight hooks but unless he's at mid-range he doesn't seem to throw them. He needs to learn to let his hands go when on the inside.
I don't like Kessler's chances at all in a rematch. Maybe if Ward gets his chin cracked by Dirrell and his punch resistance and confidence are suffering (Kessler's own win over Froch seemed to be a confidence booster for him)...but it looks like Ward is all wrong for Kessler. Ward has the speed, movement, and angles to disrupt Kessler's rhythm, as Kessler isn't the most versatile or imaginative fighter. Ward also does things on the inside that Kessler doesn't (Ward works in and out of clinches and actually throws shots up close) and has his rough tactics as well.
It's not absurd, though it is uncommon. This wouldn't qualify though - Ward not only won every round but dominated every round.
In other words - even in Oakland it was not the shut-out some posters liker to imagine. Had only 3 rounds had a different winner, Kessler would have won an MD. Only 3 rounds. Ward did win, but Kessler also fought the most unprepared and dismotivated fight of his carreer after having years of promotion etc trouble. He is now on track again it seems but in my oppinion is still not quite up to where he was 3-5 years ago. He will need to get there and beyond to beat Ward in a rematch. And the fight will have to be in Europe with a ref who doesn't allow billy goating, holding and hitting etc. Because if those things are allowed then I don't see Kessler winning at all.
NO THOSE NUMBERS ARE ALL WRONG.... KESSLER WAS EVEN WORSE THAN GREEN. ANDRE WARD DOMINATED KESSLER COMPLETELY FOR 12 ROUNDS :nut
Even the two judges who gave Kessler a couple of rounds were being generous in my opinion. My advise to anyone who thinks it what remotely close is to just watch the fight again, that will tell you all you need to know.
