My theory is national pride bull-****. They just can't face that a Dane is a better, more accomplished fighter than a Californian.

All the people that calls the fight 50/50 and how you favour Ward to win the fight blah blah...

Put Your Money Where Your Mouth is. Post now how much you have betted on the guy. Otherwist stfu. He is going to be another hype job American a la Lacy that is going to get exposed as a fraud :p

My exact thoughts - you put them into words. However, I know that at this time in Wards career, he has no or very slim chance, but then again that is not about logic, but skills, and who plays into whose way of fighting.

Exactly. but that is the psychology of the fight and that does not become apparent before the fight. We can only deduce the outcome based on the experience of Kessler and Ward as of now. Hence Kessler is right now a clear favorite.
Come fight night it might be a different tale altogether, but I don't think so (I don't hope so either being a Kessler fan myself :p).

Yeah you are probably right. There is a lot of nationalistic bull**** on this website. Often people refer to fighters from Europe or the US using generalizations a la Euro bum or overrated American. It completely destroys any interesting discussions about the match ups and degrades the victories of the fighters.

The way you guys are talking, Ward may as well not even show up to fight. Hell, he should probably drop out of the super 6 tournament together, seeing as how he doesnt have near the experience the other competitors have, thus giving him no shot at all at winning.

You are reading things into my posts that are not there. All I'm saying is that Kessler for me is the favorite against Ward based on accomplishments. Ward might win the fight, but I don't think so. I personally think that Kessler is too big a step up in competition for Ward.
If Ward looses he has several chances of redeeming himself during the tournament and will still be in it to win it. If he wins then he deserves massive credit for taking a huge step up in competition and winning. Furthermore he should be favorite to win the tournament should he win over Kessler.

I can respect that. I have only seen 3 of Kesslers fights (vs Calzaghe, Mundine, and the fight last weekend), and while he is very good at what he does, he has a very unvaried attack. In contrast, Ward has alot of options. Again, its just a styles thing for me. I give Kessler the edge over ever other opponent except Ward.

That's cool. In my opinion Kessler proved he could handle a fast slick fighter in Mundine. Mundine I think is vastly underrated on ESB. He really is a good fighter who unfortunately has gotten something of a bad rep since he got knocked out by Sven Ottke. Which really isn't fair since he was winning the fight when he got hit by a lucky punch to the temple.
I have seen the Mundine fight several times it was a great fight even though Kessler was carrying a back injury at the time.

The psychology says that Kessler has been in this situation before, where Ward has not. On fight night Ward will probably **** bricks. Even if he doesn't Kessler has absolutely nothing to worry about.

Not to forget it was his 10th or 11th fight, against a undefeated champion, and had no boxing experience besides those 10/11 fights.

I think the fight will be very much like the Mundine fight. Mundine had fast hands and was difficult to hit because of good upper body movements. This was Kessler toughest and best win. Kessler won that fight with pressure/good footwork, power and accuracy. And under pressure from Mundine and supporters, Kessler stayed cool.

Mundine and Ward have very similar natural abilities (speed etc.). However, Ward has an entirely different schooling in boxing. Ward is an olympic champion while Mundine had virtually no amateur experience and relied only on his natural abilities.
