I've seen a lot of peoples round by round giving this round to Kovalev. and what I want to know is why?? is it because harold letterman said so?
That was another swing round that arguably went to Ward. Nonetheless 114-113 Ward was a very good scorecard imo, whether you agree or disagree.
I didn't think it was a swing round it was a clear as day ward round. round 10 was the only "wtf" moment on the card. Sure ward landed a good combo early on but Kovalev landed a huge shot to wards ear that would have dropped him had Kovalev not been a bit knackered.
Again though, Kovalev's biggest mistake was letting Ward off the hook in the second round. If you have a guy like Ward hurt you go for the finish, because Ward has the will to get up, and the confidence to finish the fight and Win. Kovalev must have forgot that Ward is a man that hasn't lost a fight since he was a boy!! Ward showed his heart for sure.
1,2,4,6,10 clear kova rounds 3,5,7,8,9,11 Clear ward rounds 12th could have went either way was Kovalevs second best round of the second half hands down.
Ward showed great heart but he didn't win. Kovalev controlled the fight from outside, dictated the fight. Scores the Kd. Landed the harder punches, landed more punches. Ward was chipped up at the final bell. Close competitive fight that most people myself included felt should of been 8-4, 7-5 in favor of Kovalev. I clearly did not come out of watching that fight feeling Ward was the better fighter. If anything I felt Kovaelv was a better boxer than most gave him credit for and his punches were so much heavier than Wards.
I would say most people did not give ward only 4 rounds? Ive seen some people have it 7-5 giving kovalev round 3 which I highly disagree with but what is the 8th round that some people gave kovalev?
even if you give kovalev 1,2,3,4,6,10,12 that's 7 5,7,8,9,11 you cant even make an argument at all for giving kovalev one of those 5
I gave 9 to Ward, 10 to Kovalev. Regardless of what individual posters' cards here may be, that all 3 judges gave Ward the 10th officially cost Kovalev the fight, and was a move that reeks of them doing the math and realizing they needed Andre to sweep the final rounds to win. That scoring decision doesn't sit well in regards to their objectivity, especially with the blatant robbery that happened in the Hooker fight immediately preceding this one.
I agree kovalev clearly won round 10. if that's the way it was scored i felt bad because round 10 was clearly a kovalev round. I mean it was close for a bit but I thought ward was hurt badly for a second and thought he was going to go down. round 12 was so close that it could have even been 10-10
Whoever gave Kov round 9 simply just doesn't know how to score period. Ward has a case for round 10 as well.
