Very true. At some point Ward will be hit though. I am interested to see how he deals with it.

A puncher will always look better against a B- guy like Barrera than a slick spoiler technician like Ward. The fight is 50/50 IMAO even if I have a gun pointed to my head I will have hard time to pick a winner.

ward labored against barrera. kinda reminds of when holyfield went up to heavyweight- he was winning, but he labored a lot. i clearly picked bowe over holyfield 1 (i clearly picked holy in the rematch, because he was still the better boxer).

ward comes at kovalev like he came at barrera, and he will get ko'ed possibly.

kovalev is the easy pick. maybe ward can win a rematch, though.

He looked rusty as **** which is not surprising given that he's been inactive for so long and hasn't fought good competition. Ward was still able to edge out a decision. His next fight he should shake off the ring rust completely.

He wasn't as electrifying as he was at 168. Something was off-kilter. Coulda been that Sully was big , tall and rangey with a long jab.

He also seems open to a long straight right hand with that low left arm. I'd be concerned about that going into a Krusher fight.

Never seen him as gassed as he was either. Looking at him in the corner after round 9 I believe, you can clearly see Ward is tired.

he'd better get in there quickly then, against somebody at least equal to barrera, who seemed strong but moved like a sloth. if he is serious about fighting kovalev, he definitely needs the ring work at lhw.

    This is the correct answer.
