Ward vs Rodriguez.

Ward should win comfortably.

 

It highlights how void the SMW division is at the moment.
There just arent top challenges at the weight at present.
Wards best win is Kessler, who was unwell and rusty and already beaten by the previous champ and thats his best win. Kessler then beat old Froch who beat Bute etc and Ward lost his chances of big fights by not facing an undefeated SMW world champ.

Ward is defending against an undefeated fighter which is a good positive sign, but Rodriguez has still yet to beat any top SMWs, problem is that there arent really any until the era shapes up a bit. Happened before.

If Groves beats Froch and makes a couple of defences then that could lead to a big fight against a fighter who has experience in beating undefeated Olympic Gold Medallists. Also DeGale seems to be getting closer and if he clearly beats Bika and makes a few defences, could also be a big name opponent.

If Rodriguez is the best that there is to offer then thats not Wards fault and in a few years time the division may have improved.

I wonder if Ward is interested in fighting at LHW where there is Kovalev an undefeated world champ?

 

Andre Ward will have a shady California ref to allow him to deliberately headbutt and otherwise foul.

Not a bad fight, seems HBO paid a lot for it but they are clearly behind Ward.

I don't think Rodriguez has too much of a chance here but he's very respectable under the circumstances. Ward's been off over a year and coming back from an injury. Rodriguez is undefeated and probably a top 10 guy so no problem with this fight.

 

The fight is in Ontario, not Montreal, and these ***gots who keep whining about him "never" fighting outside of Oakland should just STFU because it's not even close to accurate. He's had like five fights there.

 

I actually do give Edwin a punchers chance. That is all any of Ward's opponents have had against him since Kessler and I'd say Edwin has the best chance of that over anyone he fought other than Froch probably... ?

Ward has got to be a 85-90 % favorite here.
