Now that Stevenson is the new linear champion, maybe Ward could move up to LHW and fight him. Do you think this fight would ever happen, and who do you see winning? I think Ward would UD Stevenson.
Ward already said that Stevenson will need to add more names on his record before he ever fights him...
What really is apparent is how weak this era of LHWs and SMWs are compared to around 6/7 years back. Ward is a good fighter and better than most in this division around today, but I doubt he would have gone anywhere near this status if he was around 7 years back. He has feasted off old already beaten fighters, and his best win is a rusty, unwell double vision suffering fighter that was past his best and had already been beaten by the former division champ that was old and having his last fight at the weight. It really is that bad. Then you look at LHW and one of the top contenders and rival world champs is a 48 year old who was also beaten by the same previous champ when younger and fresher and many would pick him to beat Stevenson. Ward has never fought one top undefeated fighter Ward has never fought an undefeated world champ Stevenson has only just won a world title and is 35 already, so there may be a chance the fight happens if it is in Oakland
If I'm Stevenson, I'd go to Jokeland. Where ever the fight takes place, Stevenson would not be able to get a decision out of Ward but he could spark him...who knows!
