Nothing left for Ward at SMW but when he does move up to 175 Stevenson is his biggest threat imo, has the right style and attributes to beat Ward. Very good counterpuncher, can match Wards handspeed and hits like a truck

Watching him Saturday night it looked like Adonis boxing skills have been seriously underrated, he took Cloud to school on the backfoot, countered his jab easily and caught him with huge shots from the first round. Made a close fight on paper look like a complete mismatch. After he sparks Bellew I hope this is the fight his team push for, he's 36 and needs to make the big fights quickly

I agree, Stevenson's boxing and counter punching ability was very underrated here, he made Cloud look like Peter McNeeley.

I think if this fight was to happen Ward would bring Adonis back down to super mid, If Ward moves up to LHW not only will he need to take a high risk fight in Stevenson, he will also have Kovalev and maybe even the Bute Pascal winner to deal with.

Although Ward's completely cleaned out SM I just can't see him moving up.
I also wouldn't advise Stevenson to move down now that he's settled at LHW, looks better than ever at LHW, is 36 and seen what happened to Dawson when he moved down.

With Ward being inactive and injury prone plus in vs a guy with speed and power hes never seen this might be a very dangerous fight

I can admit that I have underrated Stevenson. His size speed athletic ability and power would give Ward problems. I would tip Ward to win but it wouldn't be easy at all not a great stylistic match up for Ward to be honest.

I like this fight & this would be a huge legacy fight for Andre.
But HBO for some reason don't seem interested in this at all...
(They NEVER mention Stevenson's name around Ward)

Seems they want Kovalev to stop Stevenson.

Adonis was a pimp when younger...now he's making all us lhw his bitches. Warddke would better stay out or he'll get wax like Dawson and Cloud.

Ward would school him. Stevenson's big bad and dangerous, but Ward's a top class elite fighter

Still, would love to see it, just in case

I see Stevenson as a good and moderately skilled puncher, but still to my eyes, fairly one dimensional. Better than most at what he does, but in the end a one trick pony. I think Ward neutralises him pretty early. Stevensons athleticism and speed might produce a couple of slippery moments but ultimately Adonis ain't got the variation in his game. Ward should be able to dictate range and pace and by the latter rounds reduce Stevenson to impotence.

Kovalev gives Ward more problems than Stevenson IMO, though Ward beats Adonis easier than Sergei does (I need to see Kovalev show that he can keep the big hitters honest when he has to).

Everybody needs to calm down and gain a little perspective.

Ward has faced huge punchers. He to date remains undefeated.

    Ward UD.

Stevenson is good but is no match for a world class technician like Ward.
Ward takes away his outside game and gives him a lesson in inside fighting.

Ward UD. Stevenson can punch, but what happens if he can't hit his opponent but while he's getting hit?

Agreed^. Being just a big hitter, even a good one, has been shown repeatedly to be easily exploitable by superior technicians, of whom Ward (BHop also, to his credit) is one of the eras premier examples.

I credit Stevenson with decent power and workrate, some speed... ah Fukkit said it all in previous posts....

Ward (or possibly even an aging Bhop) oughta deconstruct 'superman' more easily than a drained Dawson.

Stevensons not just a big hitter tho, the guy can box. Uses the ring well, good lateral movement stays at range darting in and out. Cloud hardly hit him. Cloud landed way more punches on Hopkins through round 7 than what he managed to land on Stevenson before retiring.

Imo Kovalev is a good style match up for SOG, comes forward in fairly straight lines, big power but looks a bit slow, think it would look similar to the Froch fight.
