    Context mustn't be forgotten.

It wasn't a beating at all, have you watched the fight? Usyk was only 21 and got frustrated because the more experienced Russo was evading him effectively. Russo went on to beat Wilder even more easily. Would you pick Ward over Wilder? Usyk got his revenge against Russo four years later.

Ward was a superb amateur fighter. From his teens he fought a lot and basically never lost, which is incredible. However, I personally think he was better suited to it as he is a little short of power on his right hand. Ward was definitely more experienced than Russo when they fought in 2004, and won convincingly against Russo, although "schooling" might be a little too dramatic.

I'm a fan of Ward's but moving up one/two divisions (because Ward was a SMW, and Usyk is a big CW who has fought at HW) to beat arguably the best guy (certainly top 3) is too much to ask for.

Ward is just a different beast and it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see him beat Wilder.

Wilder however was just a boxing baby when he won bronze at Beijing, not to mention he has had a huge amount of physical growth since then.

Usyk has been talked about as a future heavyweight king on this forum since his amateur days but to date he has not proven much to be a favourite over Ward.

It is laughable when these guys (who tbf seem to be mostly Eastern European supporters) anoint these guys kings when they have done sweet f all, and have the cheek to call guys with star studded resumes cowards and duckers!

Well now, I don't remember Hunter ever saying that, or Ward for that matter. He said he COULD beat the Klistchkos, not that he intended to try, but please prove me wrong.

Right, there we differ again, I think Wilder absolutely smashes Ward. Too powerful and too athletic. In my opinion, if Ward wants to have a chance of winning a heavyweight title, stylistically he'd need to fight someone slower and less mobile. Someone like Valuev perhaps.

I guess we'll only see if Ward beats Kovalev and moves up again.

Usyk by murder. He's much too big for Ward.

Although didn't Ward say he might fight a Klitschko or something?

Also, Wilder destroys Ward. Ward can't hurt Wilder (which is saying a lot) and Wilder is fast and athletic enough to eventually land something big on Ward, and that's the end of the fight.
