Not sure I agree:

1. I'm a GGG fan but I absolutely did want to see the fight. Even if GGG lost, there's no shame in losing a decision to Ward. Plus Ward isn't the sort of fighter to hand out a beating.

2. I think the GGG fanboys are convinced that GGG knocks Ward out early to be honest.

Well done on completely missing the point. My point was that all these ignorant demographics seem to think team GGG should immediately have jumped at team Ward's half serious offer of a fight with the dice totally loaded in his favour and that it is totally ridiculous to hold out for a fight on a level playing field. My point was when you agree to Ward's demands you end up getting stiffed like Kovalev. Hence K2 are quite right to demand a level playing field. Let's not forget Ward said in public that he was willing to go to 160 for Mayweather, but when it came to GGG it was 168 or nothing.

The same ignorant demographics who think K2 should have jumped at whatever loaded dice Ward was willing to offer are the same people who are now rejoicing on other threads because Ward will not honour the agreed rematch clause after the Kovalev robbery. You get the distinct impression that these people are not fans of the sport, just those of, shall we say, a certain shade. They are also so used to Ward having the deck stacked in his favour for every fight that they think it's a God given right. If their guy wants to be regarded as a great fighter then he needs to show he can win an even fight and GGG would have been a great chance to do that.

Ward is a great fighter who's beaten other great fighters. G, he's older than Ward and has done what again? Just saying. You make it sound Ward still has to prove himself.

 

This thread really has no merit in that an offer was made but for whatever reason the fight didn't materialize.
Golovkin went on to fight Wade and then little Brook, and Ward moved up to Light HW to fight Kovalev.
Of the two, Golovkin and Kovalev, Kovalev is the better of the two, has fought and beaten better competition, and is ranked higher in the P4P ratings than Golovkin.
Ward fought the best and beat the best.
That's all you need to know.
