I'm calling it now whilst the first fight was a draw and should have arguably been given to the champ. Ward like Floyd has a way of figuring out fighters as the fight goes on. Kovalev deserves the rematch and when he gets it I'll be going straight to the bookies to put my money on Ward to win decisively this time.

Ward is the best fighter of this generation period just took on a top 5 p4p unified champ after only two warm up fights and a two year lay off.

Kovalev beat him the last 3 rounds (mostly), so I'm not sure about figuring him out. Kovalev beat Pascal easier in his rematch too, so whose to say he will adapt to Ward easier? He already nullified Wards inside game clinch, all he needs is to cut the ring better.

If I were Ward, I might avoid a rematch. Especially if it's not held in the USA.

Kovalev is going to be coming for blood next time.

You could see Kovalev get very angry later in the fight. He was pissed. He is one fighter who fights well when he's mad.

Ward should think hard about a rematch.

I think Kovalev will go all out for the knockout next time. He knows he has no choice.

He didn't look troubled post-fight, and said he didn't push to finish it because he felt he was winning and wanted to show his boxing ability.

    Correct.

My own scorecard and Harold Lederman's had Kovalev winning 3 of the final 4 rounds of the fight. Ward took the 11th.

I differ I think Ward took most the later rounds for me Kovalev won most of the early rounds. I just feel if that had been a 15 round fight Ward would have beat him comfortably coz Kovalev was fading.

Lederman is so biased for the punchers he never favours the boxer, I had Ward winning 3 of the last 4 if I remember correctly.

Kovalev will exercise his rematch clause. Ward will refuse to fight him ... because he doesn't want to get beaten up again.

At least one of the three orgs will insist Ward make a mandatory first. (Probably the WBA, because they're the worst).

Ward will keep the WBA belt and ditch the rest.

They won't fight again. Ward got beat up tonight. His swelling will only get worse as the hours go by tonight.

He got flattened. He got beat up. And he escaped with a gift.

    He isn't doing that again.

It was a tight fight I actually felt Kovalev kept his composure well in there when Ward started having success. Don't get me wrong Ward should think about be rematch but Kovalev deserves it and I consider Ward a warrior who will give to him.

I did not have the HBO feed when I watched the fight (had British one), so I had no idea he and I scored the fight almost exactly the same.

I had the sound down when I watched and scored, but I could see the crowd going nuts when they thought Ward did something. That may have influenced the judges.

But maybe I and Harold, and you, were looking at different criteria. It happens.

I had to turn off the sound to escape the bias of lampley and Lederman but it was a close fight lso most rounds could have gone either way which is what can happen in tight fights between great fighters. There was one round I think the 9th maybe which Lederman gave to Kovalev which was arguably Wards best round even Kellerman was like I have to disagree with that one. That's how you know Lederman was backing Kovalev all the way.

Ward did better as the fight went on, up UNTIL round 10. At around round 10 the fight evened out as Kovalev started to landed some punches again and seemed to hurt Ward at times again. They were still competative don't get me wrong, however Ward so no longer outboxing Kovalev like a few rounds prior. I had Kovalev winning 2 of the last 3 rounds.

Regardless i'm already seeing the myths of these fight come about? By myth I mean that certain things people claim aren't true. People have the thought that Kovalev won early but then Ward took over late, which isn't exactly what happened. It was more Kovalev early, Ward finally got going at rn5, then by rd 9-10 it evened out and both were landing.

I also scored the 9th for Kovalev.

The crowd got pumped up when Kovalev backed into the ropes, but Ward didn't hit him to put him there. I thought the crowd overreacted to what they thought Ward was doing. I could see the crowd stand up, even though I could not hear them.

To be fair, CompuBox gave Ward the 9th in punches landed.

I agree Kovalev won the 10th but 9-12 I gave to Ward convincingly, this is off the top of my head so it not necessarily the exact order. Nevertheless your right Kovalev faded but came back into it again maybe got his second win.

Another myth will be that Ward is just a clincher but I saw Kovalev clinching just as much tying up Ward very well in my opinion maybe even got the better of the clinches in most of the rounds.

Agree, it will be a load of b/s and time wasted. It is always is with Ward.
