I don't know if Ward knows what he's dealing with, this time around. Dawson is a smart kid, wouldn't be surprised if he pulls it off.
Ward should win, but there will be nothing easy about it. Dawson, stylistically, presents some real challenges and will certainly not be a simple puzzle to solve. Froch, Kessler, and Abraham don't have the physical tools or outside boxing ability that Dawson has (but guys like badly faded Hopkins, Johnson, Adamek, and Tarver don't have the dynamism that Ward currently has). Can't wait.
You could be right and what I said applies to both men. Great matchup and good luck to both champs.:bbb
It's not boxrec'ing. Froch beat Pascal and Pascal beat Dawson. I understand there is a style component but Dawson is not three levels above Froch. Froch-Dawson would be competitive.
R.E - The poster who brought up the Froch beat Pascal and Pascal beat Dawson argument - Dawson arguably fought the better Pascal who wasn't struggling to make SM. Pascal did beat Dawson by technical decision, but Dawson may well have stopped Pascal in the last round, Pascal was dead tired and lost the previous few rounds badly. Even if Froch beat a prime Pascal and Dawson lost to prime Pascal, styles make fights. And I'd pick Dawson to beat Pascal in a rematch, and I think he'd beat Froch as comfortably as Ward did.
The fact that Dawson looked like a zombie at the weigh in doesn't help! He's got no chance, especially in Oakland
Dawson lost to a Pascal who had been ruined from that 12 round war with Froch. Pascal really didnt have much left after that war. But still, he beat Dawson real bad
