I guess being in his own weight class wasn't enough, it had to be his hometown as well. Just ****ing bull**** man. I'll be rooting for Dawson big time.

Dawson wanted the fight. He's not owed a fight with Ward. He offered to fight at his weight class in a filmed, public, International television call-out, and if he only got the fight under that condition, he asked for it and wasn't owed anything. Nothing to complain about, I wouldn't think.

If you call out a guy you go to his house, his rules. I'm not sure why you're complaining, how many fighers will have fought outside of their hometown(s) after 26 fights?

And FYI, his last 2 fights weren't even in Oakland, the 3 before that were, and the previous 19 were in and around California, with 1 being in Oakland.

So currently he's fought 4 times in Oakland, with Dawson to be the 5th.

Dawson isn't a big draw anywhere, Ward IS a big draw in Oakland, so naturally, for both fighters to maximize profits, you would fight in Oakland. So, Shut the hell up, your 2 months late.

Dawson does not sell tickets anywhere, he had no choice.

And fighters staying at home gets blown out of proportion IMO. As long as the officiating is fair there should be no problem. It's good for the sport if we have top fighters who are local draws. Not every fight has to be in an almost empty casino venue in Vegas.

Its probably the only place where they can fill up a venue so it makes sense that it happens there, If Geale managed to get a win in Germany i am sure Dawson can do the same in Oakland if hes good enough to beat Ward.

Geale only got a win because Sturm used all 15 of his 9 lives.

But yes, neither man has a great fanbase, Oakland was the best location.

Most of Wards fight should be in Oakland. This is how you build up fan bases...

I find it funny that people complain about him fighting at home often, when none of his super six opposition even came close to beating him, not to mention, he fought thousands of miles away from his hometown against froch. complain about the man when he comes remotely close to receiving a hometown decision, not before.

If Dawson had any fans and could draw a gate, maybe it would make sense to do it elsewhere. But he doesn't and he can't, so shut lip.

Can understand people being pissed with Ward because he fights at home all the time but the flip side of this is Not many boxers can actually draw a decent crowd to there fights because of promoters being glorified tv packagers rather than building up a fanbase for there fighters so I think Ward and his promoter should be given credit for drawing a crowd. As well as that Dawson cant draw a crowd anywhere so whats the point having it somewhere neutral with a poor atomsphere like that disaster in Detroit with Bradley and Alexander. It seem a lot of people up here have a hard on for Ward because he beat Froch.

Good for Ward. The champ often gets the fight in his home town and Ward is the champ. Why travel when you can have it all at home.
Ward had it great in that all of the other fighters got burnt out travelling in the Super six, while he picked them off at home. It shows that not only is he the champ, but also a great businessman
